We hope everyone out there is doing great! We want you all to know that we really miss being open and being an active part of the Silver Lake community.
Here’s an Independence Day update:
Since we closed our doors back in January, we’ve been fighting the system that closed us. We have been in court, defending ourselves against the unlawful closure brought upon us and we want you to know that we are winning.
The fact is that we were shut down unlawfully, and it was due to acts of collusion, bullying, and entrapment that ultimately ends up being a violation of our basic civil rights.
We’ve had one court case already (that was a criminal case) where we were being accused of things by the ABC, the LAPD, and other city and state agencies, that came together against us all at the same time. In all, 6 criminal charges. Those charges were all dropped and dismissed.
Currently, we are in the second case and again have proven all of their claims to be false. Even using their own evidence against them in court. For instance, when they said they came in at 9:40 PM and had photographic evidence of some instance… when they showed their photographic evidence, it was clearly daytime. As well, the officer admitted to drinking at the bar before writing the report.
In truth, this all comes down to this… After 10 years of being open to the public in Silver Lake and having no problems, once it became known that Hyperion Public was in fact, a black owned business, We began having issues with complaints to the ABC, LAPD, health department, department of building and safety… And even the LA city district attorney. And between 2021 and 2024, we were harassed, bullied and discriminated against and eventually, we were shut down. We are expecting a decision on this current case in the next few days, after which, regardless of decision, win or lose, we will be filing a lawsuit and federal court for violation of civil rights.
While we don’t know what the future holds for us, we do know that we will, sadly, never have that location again and that this legal fight will not end well for the city and state agencies that colluded against us, bullied and harassed us, tried and failed to entrap us, and had no real reason or tangible evidence for anything they put us through for years, nor all the things they did to close us down.
All of this is to say that, in America, at this time, we must all stand up to injustice. We must all fight back and fight for our rights as living beings and not allow our rights freedoms to be taken away from us… for any reason… ever.
Hyperion Public should have never been shut down by these agencies and these agencies should have never expected us to just bend over and take it.
We hope that all of you will take the same stance in life for whatever your situations may be.
It is time to put an end to corruption and to take back all that is good about America.
If we stand for nothing, we will fall for anything.
We urge everyone to look into all that is going on around us and stand up. It’s time we took America back and once and for all and be a great nation that is by and for the American people.
Peace and prosperity be with you all, now and forever.
Sincerely and with love,
HP
