Sadly, the rumors are true. Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel is permanently closed. Sportsmen's Lodge was a hip, Hollywood landmark once frequented by the likes of Clark Gable, Betty Davis, and John Wayne. It was once a top filming destination featuring the largest pool in the San Fernando Valley and had extensive indoor and outdoor event space. In 2021, the owners of the Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel announced that the hotel would be closed permanently and replaced with the Residences at Sportsmenβs Lodge apartments.
The proposed 520-unit apartment building would include some affordable housing as well as shops and restaurants. The adjacent Shops at Sportsmen's Lodge is set to open in September.
