Made of 100% sheep milk, Le Zette’s Creamy Labneh is rich and silky, perfect for dipping crudite or spreading on a sandwich.

Popular across the globe, Labneh is essentially yogurt that’s been strained to remove the whey, creating an especially dense texture. While it comes from a different part of the Mediterranean, this process is also how Greek yogurt is made.

Le Zette blends their labneh with olive oil and a touch of garlic to create a smooth dip with an almost whipped texture. It’s a perfect showcase for ultra-rich sheep milk. Pick up a jar today and be surprised how often you find yourself pulling it out of the fridge.

It’s back! Fresh in from Jalisco, we’ve got blocks of Menonita in the shop from Quesos Navarro!

Quesos Navarro is the first Mexican creamery to export cheese to the US. Founded in 1961 by Don Alberto Navarro Cruz and Doña Soledad González, Quesos Navarro is located in Los Altos de Jalisco, a region long famous for dairy production. The company began exporting cheese in 2019, and their acclaim has grown as people outside of Mexico get to know their wonderful cheeses.

Menonita gets its name from the Mennonite communities of Chihuahua that introduced this cheese to the country. It’s a medium-firm melting cheese, comparable to a mild cheddar or Monterey Jack. It’s a kid friendly option for a cheeseboard, and a great cheese to cook with. It’s the perfect cheese to stuff inside chile rellenos, stir into tuna casserole, or grate on top of a bowl of chili.

Stichelton is one of the UK’s best blue cheeses! Fans of Stilton will be right at home; in many ways, Stichelton is as traditional of a Stilton as you can find.

When Stilton was granted PDO status by the EU in 1996, one of the requirements was the use of pasteurized milk. That’s a bit odd…usually PDO requirements involve raw milk, in an attempt to preserve traditional cheesemaking. The pasteurized requirement was down to encourage more cheese production, but ultimately discouraged the production of traditional raw milk Stilton.

When Randolph Hodgson and Joe Schneider decided to bring back a raw milk version, they were unable to call it Stilton. They took the name Stichelton from the Old English spelling of Stilton found in the Domesday Book (completed in 1086).

This is a beautiful wedge of a beautiful wheel and it tastes phenomenal! Expect a wide spectrum of flavors, everything from sautéed mushrooms to green apple to black licorice.

If you need a sweet treat to beat the heat, why not pick up a Sun Gold Ice Pop! Why not beat the heat with a Sun Gold ice pop? These fruity ice pops are made with real fruit and just a touch of sugar, with none of that syrupy sweetness you find in mass produced popsicles. Available in four great flavors, our neighbors already know that they’re the best summer snack on Colorado Blvd.

Hope to see you in the shop this week!

Milkfarm loves supporting small, independent producers, especially when they make things here in Southern California! One of our latest finds are the phenomenal oat and seed crisps from The Cultivated Cook. Check out those grains and seeds! Available in two yummy varieties, there’s a lot of flavor paired with an addictive crunch, perfect for scooping dips or topping with cheese.

These irresistible crisps were made by our friend Dana, the mastermind behind The Cultivated Cook! She makes her crisps (and granola!) in her home kitchen in Encino, using an LA County Cottage Food License. These licenses are a great way for a cook to start a small business without the costs associated with a traditional kitchen space.

If you’d like to taste these delicious snacks, stop by Milkfarm tomorrow! From 11-2, Dana will be here sampling her delicious products. There will even be granola, which we don’t always carry! Hope to see you this weekend!

The sandwich options never stop coming at Milkfarm! Check out these beautifully wrapped Ossau Tastys!

This turkey sandwich comes topped with Ossau Iraty cheese, one of the most beloved Basque sheep cheeses with a rich nuttiness that nicely supports the smoked turkey. The jam on this sandwich will vary based on what sounds good to us; today’s version is topped with strawberry-meyer lemon preserves, adding a twist of summer fruit to a traditional turkey sandwich.

Be sure to stop by during lunch service (11-3) to claim an Ossau Tasty for yourself! If you know you’re coming by later in the day, call us and we’d be happy to set aside a sando or two. Have a great Thursday!

What are those little lumps in the cheese case? Nope, these aren’t truffles…they’re wheels of Belper Knolle!

Actually, we take it back. Knolle is the German word for truffle, and you can see where the name comes from. These little lumps have the same shape and appearance as white truffles, but rest assured, they are cheese.

Made of raw milk from Simmental cows, these cheese are infused with garlic and then rolled in black pepper before being aged for three months. The final wheels are dry and crumbly, perfect for grating over a salad or as a substitute for pecorino in a bowl of cacio e pepe.

If you happen to have one of those fancy truffle slicers hanging around, break it out for Belper Knolle. Your guests will be stunned.

While the wide and wonderful world of cheese contains many wheels made from goat’s milk, when many people hear “goat cheese,” they think of fresh goat cheese. Often sold simply as chèvre, fresh goat cheese is soft and lightly crumbly and is perfect enjoyed as is or in any number of recipes, from salads to desserts.

Fresh chèvre is a very simple product. There’s nothing to hide behind; the best chèvre demands the highest quality goat’s milk you can find. And there truly is none better than Blakesville Creamery’s fresh chèvre. Bright, tangy, and ultra smooth, this Wisconsin chèvre is some of the best in the country, and if you dig goat cheese, you owe it to yourself to taste some. Be sure to grab a baguette or a box of crackers!

School may be back in session and the end summer rapidly approaching, but the hot weather is still here. If you need to cool down, one of the best soft drinks on our fridge is MELA - Watermelon Water Watermelon Water! Refreshing and not too sweet, these cans of watermelon juice are the perfect taste of summer in a can.

MELA - Watermelon Water recommends using a can or two for a Mela Margarita, an idea we wholeheartedly support :) For anyone observing Dry August, try mixing a Mela with a Yuzu soda for a Milkfarm fruit punch.
