Julian Quiñones, you’ve got this World Cup started with a bang. This baller will have his name in the history books as the first goalscorer in the 2026 World Cup. What a finish it was, through the keeper’s legs to get the party started in Mexico… what a game, what an atmosphere. But let’s take it back to the beginning for the forward. Julian was actually born and grew up in Colombia. He speaks on growing up in a small town called Magui Payan with his family, the town’s lack of resources and the dangers of hanging around the wrong crowd. Luckily, his mum kept him on the straight and narrow and he eventually left to pursue his football career. Julian never got to play in the top flight in Colombia… so that’s where his story with Mexico begins. He got picked up by Mexico’s Club Tigres and he has spent the majority of his career playing for many different Mexican teams, until his recent move to the Saudi League. Despite Colombia approaching him, he declined and opted to play for Mexico. It seems like he’s developed a true love for Mexico, the country that’s given him so much and yesterday, he gave it back with a MOTM performance to get this World Cup rolling.
We see you,
Everyone has a story.
