We want to Thank you for all your prayers and support this past week. We appreciate it. It’s been a tuff but we will get through it with time. Not going to lie there is a big void. And nobody will ever tell a joke like my uncle!!! Thank you again!!!

We have experienced a profound loss as a family and community at Mitla Cafe. This week, Henry “Kingfish” Lopez entered into eternal rest, leaving an empty spot at the table in our hearts which will not be filled. Henry was the grandson of our founders, and son to Vera and Henry, Sr.

Like many in our family, Henry worked at Mitla Cafe in his youth and in his life could be found frequently in our dining room or at the front counter with his own family. When you were lucky enough to catch him you’d not only assuredly get to smile, you would get to laugh. Henry’s sense of humor made others gravitate to him even if you couldn’t tell his joke of the day at work!

There are many ways Henry will be remembered; friend, son, brother husband, uncle, grandfather, coach, mentor, Pacific Pirate, Raider, pilgrim, disciple, nino, and countless other titles he left imprinted on our hearts. He was always ready to get up and dance with his wife, Patty. So we remember him in song and celebrate their 41-years of marriage and the times we got to share a dance floor with them.

Our prayers and love are with his immediate family. While, Henry will not be with us in body, his love and the lessons he left us with will never fade. Not a day will pass when you are not on our minds. We miss you, Kingfish!

So proud of our kids!!!! Just need to ask them to serve at the alumni game and no questions asked!!! Love you guys!!!!

To get to the Mexican restaurant and caterer located on N Mount Vernon Avenue in San Bernardino, you can take the public transport bus line which stops at the intersection of N Mount Vernon Avenue and E 8th Street. From there, it is a short walk to the restaurant.

If driving, you can use either the I-215 or the I-10 freeway and exit at N Mt Vernon Avenue. There is on-street parking available as well as a small parking lot nearby for customers.
