Esperanza Community Housing is honored to welcome multidisciplinary artist Martha Alicia Cruz Jiménez to our annual Day of the Dead Festival & Concert! 🎨

Working with clay, painting, movement, photography, and poetry, Martha explores motherhood as a source of love, care, strength, identity, and transformation. Through Tierra Mariposa, her artistic project in Santa Cruz Papalutla, she shares art and creative exploration with local children.

Esperanza Community Housing is honored to welcome Luis “Sicatristes” Morales as the photographer for our annual Day of the Dead Festival & Concert! 📸

A native of South Central Los Angeles, Sicatristes is dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices through photography, large-format film, and videography. Since 2017, he has documented cultural traditions and community stories, preserving family histories and highlighting the resilience of underrepresented communities.

Celebrate Life, Honor Loved ones, Live our Culture

Join us for a vibrant and meaningful Day of the Dead Festival, Concert and Dance honoring the traditions of Día de los Mu***os and the cherished memories of our loved ones. This free, family-friendly celebration brings our community together through music, dance, art, food, and culture.

🎺Enjoy live music by the renowned Maqueos Music Philharmonic and singer Patricia Alcaraz, along with colorful folk dance performances by Deyanira García, Nueva Antequera, Los Chinelos de Morelos, and Aztec Dancers.

💐🐆Explore a captivating visual art exhibition and beautifully crafted altars, or create something special during free workshops led by experienced artisans, including: flower crown making, silkscreen printing, ceramic art, alebrije painting and crepé paper flowers making.

Fatima Juarez and Conrado Rivera began Molino, Tortillería & Mexican Street Food in 2023, in the kitchen of Holbox Los Angeles. Since then, they have expanded into their own craft molino (mill) and Mexican kitchen in the Mercado, gaining widespread recognition, including a Michelin Guide recognition in 2025 and a spot on the New York Times’ 2026 Best Restaurants in the U.S list.

Every year, we take time to honor individuals, organizations, or businesses who have made a positive difference in our community. This year, as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mercado La Paloma, we recognize those who have strengthened our presence in South LA through their resilience and entrepreneurship, with the Sister Diane Donaghue Fierce Hope Award.
