Welcome to Part 1 of introducing our brand new Fonda Moderna location in Newport Beach! Chef Daniel Godinez is taking us behind the design and the vision for this new space.
We are a modern taquerĂa inspired by the traditional fondas of Mexico. Chef Daniel wanted to bring that nostalgic, communal energy of a 1980s fonda down to Newport, but with a sleek, modern twist. For us, a fonda means pulling up a chair, sharing a table, and connecting with people over incredible food.
To match that energy, he built a menu that is actually 5 distinct taquerias in 1, highlighting exceptional quality and premium meats—essentially a steakhouse in the form of a taqueria:
High-end, premium street tacos & prime meats
Authentic, slow-cooked guisados
Flavorful vegetarian & vegan options
Fresh Baja California-style seafood
