We have a small—but meaningful—update.
After more than 100 years, the sawdust on our floors will officially be retired.
While this wasn’t our decision, it was a necessary step to meet current safety and insurance standards. It’s a change we didn’t make lightly.
What hasn’t changed: our recipes, our spirit, and our commitment to being the place you know and love—just with a little less sawdust.
Thank you for continuing to grow with us. ❤️

What people say
Philippe the Original *Official Page is a must-visit restaurant for anyone looking to experience a slice of Los Angeles' rich history. Since 1908, this iconic establishment has been serving up its famous French Dipped Sandwiches, which are a true delight for the taste buds. The sandwich is made by dipping a French roll into hot juice drippings of beef, and it's no wonder that it has become a staple in the city's culinary scene.
Aside from their signature sandwich, Philippe the Original also offers an array of sides, soups, salads, and desserts that perfectly complement their main dish. And if you're in the mood for some drinks to go with your meal, they have both draft and bottled beer as well as wine available.
What sets Philippe the Original apart from other restaurants is its commitment to maintaining its traditions while providing top-notch service to its customers. The Martin brothers who purchased the restaurant in 1927 have kept it running 24 hours a day, seven days a week until WWII. Even after being forced to move locations in 1951 due to freeway construction, they remain dedicated to providing high-quality food at affordable prices.
If you're looking for an authentic dining experience that celebrates Los Angeles' rich history and culinary heritage, look no further than Philippe the Original *Official Page.
