⏳40 years of friendship and counting.
Today my old friend Tobin Yelland came by PIZZANISTA! for lunch and brought his dad, who I finally got to meet for the first time.
Tobin has spent a lifetime behind the lens documenting skateboarding and the people who shaped it. His photographs & videos didn’t just capture the culture — they became part of its history.
One of the greatest joys of owning PIZZANISTA! is having a place where old friends walk through the door, sit down, eat some pizza, and life comes full circle.
Grateful for the friendship, the history, and days like this. ✌🏼❤️🍕
PS: check out https://www.tobinyelland.com to see some of his creative work & more personal moments like the image of PIZZANISTA! founder Salman Agah & street skating pioneer and icon ray barbee playing chess in this carousel, back in the day. ♟️

🎁I recently received a gift from a friend and wanted share it with YOU all!
Some people talk about hospitality. Adam Wiseblatt lives it.
We’ve had the pleasure of working with Adam, Holly, Mike Santos and the crew at Last Word Hospitality, and one thing has always stuck with us: their willingness to help didn’t end even when our contract did.
They’ve continued to answer calls, offer advice, share knowledge and be of service whenever we’ve needed help. That tells you a lot about the people behind their restaurants.
And if you know or have met Adam, you know the smile. 😂 Big, genuine and usually attached to the kind of positive energy that makes you feel better after spending five minutes with him.
So it’s very fitting that he wrote a book called For the Love of Restaurants—because Adam genuinely loves this business, the people in it, and what restaurants can mean to a community.
Congratulations, Adam & Last Word Hospitality 👏❤️
Pick up the book, give it a read, and if you’re in Los Angeles, go experience what Adam and the Last Word Hospitality team have built at their restaurants. Found Oyster Barra Santos Queen’s Raw Bar & Grill Same Same // But Different Hermon’s and a host of others including Red Dog Saloon | b. 1946
Great people doing bespoke work deserve all our support.
Much love from all of us at PIZZANISTA! - Salman & Joan ✌🏼❤️🍕

There’s a side of owning a restaurant that never shows up on a P&L.
It’s this. 😊
Families walking through the door. Kids growing up eating our pizza. Guests becoming regulars, and regulars becoming friends. Someone stopping you to tell you how much they love the food, our staff, or simply what the place means to them.
We opened PIZZANISTA! because we love pizza & skateboard, but somewhere along the way we realized we’re really in the business of serving YOU and building community.
Restaurants are hard. Anyone who’s done this for a living knows that. But moments like this remind us why we keep doing it.
To every person who walks through our doors, brings their family, tells a friend, comes back again, or simply says, “We love this place” — that love comes right back to us.
That’s the part we can’t put a price on.
We are truly grateful! - Salman ✌🏼❤️🍕

SURFERCROSS has always been one of those events that’s just plain FUN! — take some of the best from motocross, mix them up with some of the best from surfing, pair everybody off and see what happens.
Day 1: dirt, motos and PIZZANISTA! 🍕
Day 2: waves, surfing and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos 🌮 Wahoo's Fish Taco
Big respect to Jeremy Albrecht for continuing to smash these two worlds together year after year for 2 days of fun in the sun, and to every rider and surfer who showed up, sent it and reminded us why events like this matter.
We’ve always believed the best things happen when different cultures collide — skateboarding, surfing, motocross, music, art and food. Surfercross lives right in that sweet spot.
Proud to have PIZZANISTA! be a small part of the madness.
🍻Here’s to keeping fun alive.
Great to be with friend old and new!🤝

Pizzanista! is a must-visit pizza place and vegetarian & vegan restaurant in Southern California. Founded in 2011 by legendary professional skateboarder Salman Agah, art consultant Price Latimer, and investor Roby Latimer, Pizzanista! offers an irresistible blend of New York-style thin-crust pizza with California's fresh produce and small-batch ingredients. The family-owned and operated pizzeria features traditional hand-tossed pizza dough made fresh daily using 200-year old sourdough cultures from Naples, hand-milled marinara sauce made from California tomatoes, innovative pizza toppings, and farm-fresh salads.
What sets Pizzanista! apart is its commitment to serving only the highest-quality, fresh ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. Renowned chef Steve Samson (of Sotto) helped develop the distinctive homemade recipes that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
