🇲🇽🏆 A MEXICAN PRESIDENT ON FOOTBALL'S BIGGEST STAGE — AND THE WHOLE WORLD WAS WATCHING

Last night, as the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to its historic close, something happened that filled millions of Mexican hearts with pride.

President Claudia Sheinbaum stood on the championship podium at MetLife Stadium — not as a guest, but as the leader of a host nation — and personally presented the Golden Ball, the award for the tournament's best player, to Spain's captain Rodri. 🥇

Think about what that moment represents.

For the first time in history, the World Cup was shared by THREE nations — Mexico, the United States, and Canada. And Mexico didn't just participate. Mexico became the FIRST country ever to host the World Cup three times: 1970, 1986, and now 2026. 🇲🇽

From the legendary opening match at the Estadio Azteca — the only stadium on Earth to open three World Cups — to the electric atmospheres in Guadalajara and Monterrey, Mexican fans showed the planet what football passion truly looks like. The mariachi in the stands. The Grito echoing through stadiums. The warmth that made visitors from 48 nations feel at home.

Spain lifted the trophy after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Argentina, with Rodri anchoring their midfield through the entire tournament. Lionel Messi took the Silver Ball in what may be his final World Cup — a legend honored until the very end.

But when the cameras turned to that podium, there stood a Mexican president — a scientist, the first woman to lead our nation — handing football's highest individual honor to the world's best player.

After the ceremony, President Sheinbaum congratulated the Mexican people, saying Mexico proved itself the finest of hosts, and reminded the world that football has the power to unite nations.

Three countries. One tournament. And Mexico at the heart of it all. ❤️

Something is rotten in the USA. Those who are supposed to safeguard our rights (the "un"Supremes) have approved allowing federal immigration agencies to continue using enforcement practices that critics call unconstitutional and racially discriminatory.

"...including apparent race or ethnicity; speaking Spanish or English with an accent; presence in a particular location like a bus stop, car wash, or agricultural site; or the type of work a person does.”

Thankful for Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, UFW (United Farm Workers), Los Angeles Workers Center, and the Immigrant Defenders Law Center for continuing the fight.

To get to Hillhurst Avenue in Los Angeles, you can take the Metro Red Line and get off at Vermont/Beverly Station. From there, you can walk to Hillhurst Avenue or wait for a local bus to take you closer.

If you are driving, take the I-5 N and exit onto Los Feliz Boulevard. Turn left onto Hillhurst Avenue and look for parking along the street or in nearby parking lots.

The food stand is located on Hillhurst Avenue, near the intersection of Ambrose Avenue. You'll have to keep an eye out for it as it's a small stand.

The Mexican restaurant and burger restaurant are both located further south on Hillhurst Avenue, between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklin Avenue. Again, there is street parking available or paid parking lots nearby.

Overall, taking public transport may be more convenient than driving due to potential traffic and limited parking options.
