A few minutes from the hotel, Casita Basqueria brings authentic Basque cuisine to Surf Canyon. Limited sandwiches made daily, Spanish provisions, and the kind of spot locals don’t always want to share. Inspired by healthy, active outdoor living and deep respect for ingredients. Worth the short trip for lunch.

The first thing to bloom after the fires were wildflowers. Morning glories covered the Palisades foothills, beautiful and resilient.
Contemporary oil painter Renée Levin foraged one of these flowers and spent March 7-10 at Malibu Beach Inn painting it live as our Artist in Residence. Guests watched “She Resurrects” take shape over four days—a 24x36 inch meditation on perseverance and rebirth. To Renée, this single morning glory became a symbol of hope and the region’s enduring spirit. The finished piece now hangs at the property and is available for purchase.
As Malibu continues to rebuild, we’re committed to supporting the arts and our local community in meaningful ways. Join our mailing list for updates on future Artists in Residence, and stop by—even just for a glass of rosé on our terrace—to see Renée’s painting in person.

This month, we kicked off our Artist in Residence program with contemporary oil painter Renée Levin.
Guests had the unique opportunity to watch Renée create a live painting during her stay, now available for purchase. Her piece, “She Resurrects,” is inspired by a wildflower from the Palisades and symbolizes resilience and renewal following the Palisades Fire.
As Malibu continues to rebuild, we’re grateful to support the arts and our local community in meaningful ways.
Join our mailing list to stay informed about upcoming Artists in Residence, and stop by — even just for a glass of rosé on our terrace — to admire Renée’s painting in person.
