Today we honor the life and legacy of John Lewis on the 6th anniversary of his passing. Lewis was a champion of civil rights in the United States and played a key role in the movement to end legalized racial segregation. Among his many achievements and contributions, John Lewis:
•Was a founding member of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and served as its Chairman from 1963-66,
•Worked as one of the lead organizers for the 1963 March on Washington,
•Led the first Selma to Montgomery March in March 1965 across the Edmund Pettis Bridge, that later became known as Bloody Sunday, where state troopers and police attacked the peaceful marchers,
•Served as member of Congress in Georgia's 5th district for over 30 years,
•Awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011.
As we continue the fight to protect and expand voting rights for all in the United States, we take inspiration from John Lewis and his lifelong dedication to peace, justice, and equality for all.

**Travel Directions to Tampa Avenue in Northridge**
**By Public Transport:**
1. **Metro Bus:** Check the Metro website for the latest bus routes that service the Northridge area. Routes such as the 166 or 237 may be convenient, depending on your starting point.
2. **Train:** If you are near a Metro station, take the Red Line towards North Hollywood and transfer to a bus that goes to Tampa Avenue.
3. **Final Stop:** Once you arrive at a nearby bus stop on Tampa Avenue, it will be just a short walk to your destination.
**By Car:**
1. **From the North (e.g., Santa Clarita):** Take I-5 South, then merge onto I-405 South. Exit at Nordhoff Street and head east until you reach Tampa Avenue. Turn left.
2. **From the South (e.g., Los Angeles):** Take I-405 North and exit at Nordhoff Street. Head east and turn left onto Tampa Avenue.
3. **Parking:** There is usually street parking available along Tampa Avenue, as well as nearby lots where you can park for free or for a small fee.
