Our friends over at put together a short video of us behind the scenes. Thanks for taking the time to highlight minority-owned small businesses and allowing us to share a part of our story.

Since mid-March, we’ve watched COVID-19 take over and create a “new normal” in lives across the world. We had to shutter Needle, and even though we were confident it would be temporary, we were still heartbroken over it. For two months, we thought long and hard and came up with endless ways on how we can revive Needle. How can we still set out to do what we intended to do with Cantonese food, while still keeping everyone safe? How can we bring to you the soul of the experience we intended, if we could not welcome you into our restaurant and have a personal connection? These weren’t easy questions to answer, and to be honest, we are not sure that anyone has come up with a satisfactory answer. But the clock ticks and time moves on, even if we aren’t.

So starting May 28th, we are back, and we’re doing everything we can to come up with the right answers to those questions. We’ve re-envisioned the menu to focus on 1) items that are easy to eat right away (a la in your car) and 2) items that are sure to travel well and still be delicious even after reheating at home. We are also limiting the amount of people touching your food and taking the utmost care in keeping everything sanitary and clean. Lastly, all orders must be placed online through our website beforehand, and pick-up at our front door will be nearly contactless. We are giving guests the option of ordering ahead of time or ordering right before coming to pick up, but will be limiting the amount of guest pick-ups per half hour to ensure social distancing.

Because of all of this, our opening menu will be super tiny, but we hope to slowly add more items as we go on. We know it’s going to look and feel very different, but we hope you’ll still be able to feel Needle’s presence in everything we put out. We hope to see you soon!
