Dear Boaters,
The Ventura County Harbor Department is excited to invite you to take part in the 4th Annual Parade of Frights, scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2025! This event is a non-competitive boat parade, designed to celebrate creativity, community, and fun on the water.
Whether you go all-out with lights, costumes, and decorations, or simply enjoy cruising alongside fellow boaters, the Parade of Frights is your chance to show off your spirit and help create a memorable evening for the Harbor community on and off the water.
Prior to the boat parade, a variety of organizations and businesses will be offering Halloween-related events and activities to help build upon the overall experience.
Please join us and register your vessel for the Parade of Frights. I’ve attached a boat entry form and a copy of the event poster. Please pass this email along to other boaters (or your respective yacht clubs) who might be interested in joining!

Mystic Whaler/CCOAF: Mystic Whaler, a 110’ schooner, is the outdoor classroom of CCOAF, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Its mission is to promote hands-on education, STEAM academic comprehension, environmental stewardship, teamwork, self-confidence, and nautical skills with a special focus on youth through sailing and the sea. Mystic Whaler offers year-round educational programming to schools, community-based organizations, and the public.

About Southern California Plankton Watch: Interest and awareness of plankton and blooms brought together scientists and informal educators in the Southern California Bight region to form a volunteer plankton monitoring network called the Southern California Plankton Watch. This program replaces the Southern California HABWatch which was formed in 2011 with support from USC Sea Grant, the Center for Ocean Science Education Excellence (COSEE) West, and the Southern California Coastal Ocean Observing System. This ongoing effort increases the number of eyes on the ocean for understanding changing ocean systems, and early detection of blooms and sets into place a method for rapid response.
