The Ramen Joint is an accurately named restaurant. This small noodle shop near LAX fills up with solo diners slurping noodles at the scraped-up wooden bar, while pots of tonkotsu broth bubble away in the open kitchen. The ramen here comes out especially fast, which makes Ramen Joint a useful stop before boarding a flight. The tonkotsu is the most popular order, but we prefer their lighter but still plenty rich shoyu chicken, topped with a mountain of braised shredded chicken. The best time to swing by is during their generous happy hour, which runs daily from 2-5pm and again after 8pm, when bowls of ramen drop to $15, and all apps are half off. Great news if you just got off a flight and your stomach thinks 3pm is dinner o’clock.
