What began as an inconvenience became part of the process.
High Water by Artist in Residence Emily Colvin explores what it means to create through shifting conditions—where flooding isn’t just an obstacle, but something embedded in the work itself.
Serpents, tulips, Medusa, Venus—symbols of movement, protection, growth, and water—surface and resurface. Paintings drift between rooms. Neon builds its own language.
This collection is a practice in letting go, in trusting instinct, in continuing forward even as the ground changes beneath you.
On view now.

In 1926, Hotel Figueroa opened its doors as the largest commercial building in the U.S. funded by women, for women. Originally created by the YWCA as a safe haven for solo female travelers—at a time when many hotels required a male chaperone—it quickly became more than just a place to stay.
Its coffee shop and salons evolved into vibrant gathering spaces for artists, activists, and intellectuals, where powerful ideas were exchanged and progress took shape.
Today, we proudly continue that legacy by championing creativity, equity, and fearless self-expression in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who built these walls—and the women who continue to shape what they stand for.
