Chef Appreciation Week Spotlight: Chef Ruben Rocha 🍽️🔥
Today, we’re celebrating Chef Ruben Rocha, Lothian Residential Restaurant’s Sous Chef, and his culinary journey of passion and dedication! ✨
From humble beginnings to becoming a culinary maestro, Chef Ruben’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary.
👨🍳 “Like most of us, I used to struggle with finding what to do with my life when young. One of my first jobs was working for a fast-food restaurant, then I had the opportunity to work in a chain restaurant as a culinary manager, after that I had worked in other restaurants and hotels.”
🍳 “Every time someone asked what I do for a living, I said I’m a chef. I love what I do!”
🎓 “Being ACF certified allows me to join my fellow chefs in this noble profession and be a leader that takes care of their team. It requires an enormous amount of dedication, but the payoff is priceless!”

Join us as we celebrate Chef Kiet Oudomhack, Glasgow Residential Restaurant’s Executive Sous Chef, and his culinary career of inspiration and transformation.
🎩🍴 Starting as a dinner cook at Disneyland’s prestigious Club 33, his journey took a unique and fascinating path.
🍲 “Becoming a chef wasn’t my first career choice. My aspirations shifted from becoming an LAPD officer to becoming a chef. My ‘aha’ moment, where I decided to serve the community through my culinary skills, is a great example of following one’s passion and making a positive impact.”
Chef Kiet’s story is a testament to the power of channeling your passion into achieving your dreams.

Today, we’re spotlighting The Barn & Stable Chef, Chef Sean Layne, whose culinary mastery is nothing short of remarkable.
🔥🍳 “I knew I was destined to be a Chef when I stepped into a commercial kitchen for the first time, and fell in love with the ‘coordinated chaos’.”
With that passion ignited, he embarked on his culinary education, working his way up the ranks at Disneyland Resort and ultimately reaching the position of Area Chef. 28 years later, Chef Sean made the life-changing decision to join the UCR Dining team as the Culinary Manager for The Barn.
🍽️🎓🎉 ”Joining the ACF and becoming certified is an exciting new chapter in my career that allows me to be a part of an organization that provides opportunities to connect and network with my peers, as well as further develop my skills and knowledge.”
