The Chori-Man

The Chori-Man The Chori-Man is a Mexican restaurant located on South Alma Street that boasts of being the home to the best artisan chorizo in Los Angeles. The owner, Humberto Raygoza, is a 4th generation artisan chorizo maker who learned the craft from his Dad and uncles back in Zacatecas, Mexico. He started his own business, "The Chori-Man Artisan Chorizos & Sausages," in 2013 by selling his product out of a little cooler on wheels that he named The Chori-Mobile. With time, he garnered loyal customers through word of mouth as well as from his past employer - Del Rey Deli Co. - which helped him to establish himself and get recognized for his chorizo. Today, customers can enjoy delicious Zacatecano Red and Tolucan Green chorizo at the restaurant along with their famous breakfast burrito. LA Mag has deemed their chorizo the Best Artisan Chorizo in Los Angeles.

Sitting in gratitude today while feeling heartbroken as we reflect on the everything that is happening around us. In the food industry, in our city, and in this country. There hasn’t been a single week where a fellow small business owner hasn’t called us to say they’re closing up. It’s a devastating rate that I can’t wrap my head around.
I am so very thankful for the community that we serve and the ways they have shown up for me and my family over the years.
My wife Vanessa, my team and I will continue to support our community in any way that we can. I’m here because you all met my hard work and my dreams with an open heart and hungry bellies.
Thank you to the independent media groups who continue to share our stories no matter how small. Thank you and thank you to all of our customers who come from all over Southern California and to our San Pedro customers turned friends.
It makes me emotional to see that young man right there. We’ve been through so much, and we’re still standing. I am forever thankful.

Y’all have been adding a fried egg on these and some add the chipotle braised beef on them… I like your style!

We take great pride in the cleanliness and organization of our shop. When you build from nothing, you don’t take anything for granted. Every piece of equipment, the windows you installed, the new systems you saved up for to implement for better efficiency and customer service. You value everything.
I was looking at a picture of my old apartment days. Hanging my chorizo links and walking out with my cooler. Back then things were much simpler than how things are now. I prayed and worked hard to have what I have today, and I’m really thankful that my team understands what it took to get here and I appreciate how hard they work to honor our work space.
Thank you to everyone who continues to show up at our shop every day. I take nothing for granted. Muchas gracias 🙏🏽

Thirsty Thursdays make us so happy! 🧡
Our fave is a bean & cheese with beef, and a breakfast burrito with maple habanero and a fresh strawberry horchata… or a chicken adobada and a beef breakfast burrito …. Or a green breakfast burrito and a chile verde bean & cheese…. 🤔 See our dilemma?
There’s no wrong way to enjoy this special! 🥤 🌯 🌯

What people say

If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine, then you know that the key to a great meal is authentic ingredients and flavors. That's exactly what you'll find at The Chori-Man on South Alma Street in Los Angeles. This Mexican restaurant is home to some of the best artisan chorizo and sausages in town, made by 4th generation chorizo maker Humberto "The Chori-Man" Raygoza.

What started as a small business selling 100 lbs of chorizo every three months has now grown into a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. The Chori-Man's loyal customers have helped spread the word about his delicious chorizo, leading to partnerships with top restaurants like The Federal Bars in Long Beach and North Hollywood, and the Hudson House.

But it's not just about the chorizo at The Chori-Man. Their breakfast burrito is a must-try, featuring their famous Zacatecano Red or Tolucan Green chorizo. And if you're looking for something different, they also offer other Mexican favorites like tacos and quesadillas.

It's no wonder that LA Weekly named The Chori-Man's chorizo the Best in Los Angeles. With authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients, this Mexican restaurant is definitely worth checking out.
