Root of Life Juicery Root of Life Juicery is a small smoothie and juice bar located on E. Florence Avenue. Initially started as an experiment by a group of college students, it has grown to become a success within the community, with a menu that only contains the freshest fruits and vegetables in season. With over 12 items available all year round, experimentation is their secret tool in creating new recipes that keep customers coming back for more. Root of Life currently operates in three local Farmers Markets: Downey, Huntington Park, and South Gate, where they believe in educating themselves and the community about creating a more suitable environment for future generations to follow.

We’ll be donating 10% of all sales to Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) to support immigrant families and protect human rights.

We’ve also added SELA community resources in-store to help fund support for street vendors, day laborers, families, and loved ones impacted by detention through local mutual aid.

If you’re able, cash is encouraged so funds go directly to the community without merchant fees. We repeat encouraged, not necessary. 🌱

Loss always takes a toll, but I want to remind you that love never leaves. The people we miss most always show up in the smallest ways.

I just want to thank you for allowing this girl to occupy so much space. 💛 This event brought in such an overwhelming amount of DMs that it made me reflect on how I can continue to show up for my community.

…and that’s a wrap! Bye August

Hi 👋, I’m Maria — founder of Root of Life Juicery 🌱

Many of you know me from my farmers market days. Six years later, here we are. Root of Life has always been more than a juice bar. It’s love, it’s community, it’s my sweat, love, and tears.

Root of Life started with just two of us, and two years ago I stepped out on my own. Hardest and best decision of my life. I never thought I’d be here, most days I still can’t believe it. 🥹

I remind myself daily that I’m human. I’ll make mistakes, I’ll stumble, but I keep showing up because I love this.

Here’s who I am:
• A proud Latina, grateful for the sacrifices of the men and women before me.
• A mom to a little boy who inspires me to break cycles and dream bigger.
• A dog lover and animal lover who believes every living being deserves a chance.
• A woman who loves deeply, criticizes herself the hardest, but keeps showing up with heart.

Root of Life is not just about juices. It’s about cultura, about proving that our stories, our flavors, and our people belong in spaces like this. (Please read that again! Believe it! Take up space! Be proud of who you are!) ✨🌞🤍

Today we took the afternoon to connect as a team. We are so fortunate not only to have our doors open, but to be busy, really busy, in times when so many small businesses are struggling. When you support ROL, you’re not just buying a juice. You’re supporting these amazing humans behind the bar…future leaders, dreamers, and community builders.

There are still days I can’t believe this little Mexican girl is living this life. No tengo palabras, estoy muy agradecida. Thank you to Spirit, to my ancestors, and to every single one of you who has ever walked through our doors.

✨🤎🌱 It’s hard for me to share this, because I’m a deeply private person. This space has always been about uplifting my team and our community. But today, I need to speak from the heart ✨🤎🌱

As the daughter of an immigrant mother, these moments hit different. This is me. A little girl in lace, laughing, surrounded by tias, primos, and the women who raised me.

Watching these deportations unfold right now… it’s not just news. It’s personal. It’s triggering. It’s heartbreaking. These are not strangers, these are our people. Our parents. Our roots.

At Root of Life, we’re more than a juice bar ✨ we’re a sanctuary built from sacrifice, resilience, and love.

Right now, families in our community are facing the unbearable weight of deportation, of being torn apart for simply wanting a better life. These aren’t just stories. These are our neighbors, our mothers, our tíos, our best friends.

We stand with immigrants. We honor their roots, and ours, by using our platform to speak out and show up.
