Need to lock in?
Start with an espresso shot.
Move to a drip coffee.
Finish with a cold brew.
No syrups. No gimmicks. Just coffee that gets the job done.

There are easier ways to make a living than opening a coffee shop with your best friend.
Long days. Early mornings. Hard conversations. A lot of figuring it out as we go.
But getting to build something meaningful with someone who’s been there through different seasons of life? That’s something I don’t take for granted.
Ground Up was never just about coffee. It was about creating the kind of place we wished we had growing up, a place where people could connect, dream bigger, and feel at home.
Grateful for the friendship that started it all, and for everyone who’s been a part of this journey with us.
Here’s to building it from the ground up. ☕️

“I think it’s important for our kids to see us try, even if we fail.”
What started as a way to help her son grew into something much bigger. Liz built while navigating fear, uncertainty, and the everyday challenges that come with parenthood and entrepreneurship.
This is a reminder that courage doesn’t always look fearless. Sometimes it looks like showing up anyway.
Thank you, Liz, for sharing your story with us. 🤍

To the students balancing classes, work, family, and everything in between, we see you.
Nothing worth building comes easy. The late nights, early mornings, packed schedules, and sacrifices are all part of the journey.
Ground Up was built by people who understand that struggle. That’s why we’re proud to be part of the ELAC community and provide a place to study, work, recharge, and keep moving forward.
Whether you’re chasing a degree, a dream, or simply trying to get through the week, we’ll have the coffee ready.
Keep building. We’ll help fuel the journey. ☕️

Some people call it attitude.
We call it standing for something.
At Ground Up, we’ve always believed coffee should reflect the people behind it. The same pride, grit, and confidence that built this shop is in every drink we serve.
Not because we’re trying to be different. Because we’re staying true to who we are.
East LA roots.
Community first.
Attitude in every cup.

What does it take to build one of the most craveable sandwich shops in the SGV?
We sat down with Henry, owner of Monty’s Alhambra and Monty’s Norwalk, to talk about entrepreneurship, community, and what it was like starting a business during the pandemic.
As a Montebello local and longtime Ground Up Coffee regular, Henry shares his journey, lessons learned, and why supporting local businesses matters.
Stories like these remind us that the San Gabriel Valley is built by people willing to take a chance on an idea and serve their community.
Have you been to Monty’s yet?

Montebello and the 323 have always been known for rich culture, community, and flavor. ☕️
9 years ago, we became Montebello’s first specialty coffee shop because we believed our community deserved high-quality coffee close to home.
Ground Up is proudly Latino-owned, locally owned, community-driven, and built for the people of Montebello, East LA, and the 323.
Whether you’re stopping by for your morning coffee, studying, working, or meeting with friends, this space was made for you.\
