Our PSL was engineered by a future engineer. 👩🔬🎃☕️
Meet Scarlett, the owner’s daughter and the mind behind our Pumpkin Spice Latte recipe.
Before heading off to UC Berkeley to study engineering, she created this recipe with real spices and a goal: make a PSL that still lets the coffee shine.
Now she’s starting a new chapter, but she left a little piece of herself here at Ground Up.

We got tired of leaving our neighborhood for good coffee, so we brought it home.
Ground Up started in 2017 with a simple belief:
Our community deserves high-quality coffee too.
No pretension. No need to leave the neighborhood.
Just good coffee, roasted weekly, right here in Montebello.

Before the coffee shop, there were folding tables, early mornings, long nights, and a lot of uncertainty. There wasn’t a guarantee it would work, only the decision to keep showing up.
This isn’t just our story. It’s for anyone building something they believe in.
