Due to covid-related concerns, we have had to postpone our opening night celebration by one week 😢 But never fear - your chance to buy coffee is near! The Motley Coffeehouse will start serving drinks on Monday, April 4th. Our hours this week are: M-F 8AM-5PM, Saturday & Sunday 11AM-5PM, with a closure the day of April 8th to prepare for our celebration event which will take place from 7PM-10PM 🥳
Thank you for extending kindness and compassion to our baristas (especially our new hires!) as they adjust to the job, increased demand, and COVID-19 safety measures ❤️🩹

To get to the coffee shop on Columbia Avenue in Claremont, take the Metrolink train to Claremont station and walk east on 1st Street until you reach Indian Hill Boulevard. Turn right and continue walking south for several blocks until you reach Columbia Avenue. The coffee shop will be on your left.
If driving, take the 10 freeway and exit at Indian Hill Boulevard. Head north on Indian Hill Boulevard until you reach Columbia Avenue. Turn left and find street parking nearby as there is no dedicated parking lot for this location.

The Motley Coffeehouse, located on Columbia Avenue in Claremont, is a unique and socially responsible coffee shop that has been collectively run by the students of Scripps College since 1974. This non-profit, feminist organization is committed to exploring diverse feminist critiques and perpetuating sustainable supply chains to connect the Claremont Colleges with local and global communities.
What sets The Motley apart from other coffee shops is their intersectional, political, and feminist business model. Their mission statement reflects their commitment to being a socially responsible business that fosters independent thinking and purposeful change.
In addition to their admirable mission, The Motley also has a lost ID card policy that shows their dedication to their customers. If you happen to lose your student ID card while using one of their mugs, they will record the time it was reported missing and give you 24 hours to look for it before reimbursing you for a new one.
But what really makes The Motley special is the sense of community they cultivate. They invite customers not just for the coffee but also for the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share similar values.
