Reposted 🔁 We deserve this. All of us. Thai food that undulates with that beautiful tension of sweet, salty, sour, and heat — not flattened into the same safe menu repeated coast to coast.
Somewhere along the line, San Diego lost a Thai vegan restaurant that flirted with this level of fearless creativity. A place that could have deepened its roots instead of trading them for meat and Americana.
At Santa Monica’s the language remains intact. Clearly illustrated in the Pomelo & Shiso Leaves ($19). Supreme segmented pomelo studded with Thai chili with crushed peanuts, curls of toasted coconut, crispy shallots, sesame, and microgreens over an aromatic shiso–an herb authentic to Thai food but that I’ve never seen used at a Thai-American restaurant.

Looking back at this video from my mom’s last birthday, watching her blow out the candles on her favorite Khanom Tan (steamed toddy palm cakes in little banana leaf cups) I made just for her, I’m reminded of where it all began.
Mother’s Day isn’t about a single date—it’s about carrying forward a lifetime of love. It is the very foundation of why I cook. My “daughter to mother” style of cooking started in my childhood kitchen, fueled by a simple wish to care for the woman who cared for everyone else. Every dish we serve at Satdha is an extension of that same love, respect for tradition, and commitment to health that I first practiced for her.
Today, it is a privilege to share that heart and soul with all of you. Whether you are celebrating with your mom, a mother figure, or honoring a beautiful memory, we hope our food brings you that same sense of warmth and comfort.
Happy Mother’s Day to my incredible mom and to all the wonderful mothers in our community! 🌷🌸

To get to Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica, you can take the Metro Expo Line to the Downtown Santa Monica Station and transfer to the Big Blue Bus Route 3 going south on Lincoln Boulevard. The restaurant is located on Lincoln Boulevard between Hill Street and Ashland Avenue.
If driving, take the I-10 westbound and exit at Lincoln Boulevard. Turn left onto Lincoln Boulevard and continue for about half a mile until you reach the restaurant. Parking is available on the street or in nearby parking lots.
