Greetings Acoma friends. Just a quick note to say that I don't monitor this site much. If you have any comments, you and contact me at Bill Hatrick (Conductor Bill) here on face book. Apparently, ACOMA has a new home at Sky Railway. I hope you endeavor to ride the car there. It IS a one-of-a-kind treasure!

We've been very quiet regarding ACOMA, but that is because of the Amtrak rule changes that sent shock waves through the private car community. ACOMA is stored in ABQ and hopes to be a part of the Santa Fe 2926 steamer operation if it happens. The car is still for sale if anyone wants to have an ultra cool piece of railroad history ... the first lounge car to the very first streamlined Super Chief! Built by Budd in 1937, she was also the very first lightweight un-articulated lounge car. Pictures below, the Hatrick family aboard ACOMA and the car in Winslow getting ready to move to ABQ. Tough to say goodbye to ACOMA after having (almost) exclusive use of her for nearly 5 years.

Miss the ACOMA! She's moved to Winslow, AZ because of the Amtrak private car debacle (boo - hiss at Amtrak for turning their back on private cars and special trains after a 40+ year relationship)

Sad news, SoCal ... our beloved ACOMA is leaving town. On account of the PV/special train embargo by Amtrak, the owners are taking ACOMA "home". Won't even be a last trip home to ABQ by rail ... will go by freight. How sad ... Amtrak's new policy is tragic and has basically ruined the heritage rail industry.
