Last night was our final service at SOCALO, and we’re still feeling all the feels.
Thank you, Santa Monica, for six wonderful years of margaritas, salsa macha, and memories. To our incredible team, our neighbors, and every single person who made this place what it was—we’re so grateful.
While we’re closing this chapter, Border Grill Catering is still here in LA and ready to bring the flavors you love to your next celebration.

Mexican restaurants are known for their vibrant flavors, colorful presentations, and festive atmosphere. Socalo on Santa Monica Boulevard in Santa Monica is no exception. This Mexican restaurant is a California canteen and Mexican pub that has been delighting diners with its delicious food and drinks since it opened its doors. The award-winning chefs Susan Feniger & Mary Sue Milliken have created a menu that features classic Mexican dishes with a modern twist.
One of the things that sets Socalo apart from other Mexican restaurants is their commitment to sustainability. They serve only sustainable seafood and are members of James Beard Foundation's Smart Catch and Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program. This means that diners can enjoy their favorite seafood dishes without worrying about the impact on the environment.
Socalo also offers a variety of cocktails, including margaritas, palomas, and micheladas, which are perfect for celebrating special occasions or just enjoying a night out with friends. And speaking of celebrations, Socalo is always ready to party! They recently offered free chips and salsa to AIDS/LifeCycle riders who showed their badge as well as special Pride Month menu items like Rainbow Shrimp Ceviche.
Whether you're in the mood for classic Mexican dishes like Chilitos Rellenos or something more contemporary like Salmon & Avocado Toast, Socalo has something for everyone.
