A couple photos of some of our most loyal supporters. 🥹🌺

Our supporters make all of this possible, and we never want to take that for granted.

Most days I’m running between restaurants, cooking, baking, training, and putting out fires, so we rarely get a chance to stop, take photos, or chat as long as I’d like.

But please know this: we see you, we appreciate you, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

Mahalo for choosing our small businesses, cheering us on, and being part of our journey. We wouldn’t be here without you. ❤️

We’re currently fostering 7 puppies at our home as well until Friday to help out . 🥹

Another chance we got to support a small local business. 🌺

I’ve been following for a while because I’m genuinely a fan of everything she creates and posts. I’ve even made her lilikoi crunch and a few other recipes before… so ono every time. 🤤

Then I started seeing her post about .rolls , and ever since, they kept popping up on my feed until I finally had to try them for myself. 🤤

Hele Rolls is owned and operated by Jaz and gf Kaiwi on Oʻahu, and we finally got our hands on some this week! Love supporting the hustle, especially small businesses doing things their own way.

It’s a preorder pickup style business, which honestly makes it even cooler. Fresh batches, limited flavors, and something fun to look forward to each week.

This week’s flavors were Matcha and Original, and I’m so glad we tried both. The dough was super soft and moist, and the frosting texture was REALLY good. Definitely not skimpy either… frosting lovers will be happy. 🌺

Of course we grabbed extras to share with our ʻohana too. 🫶🏼

If you’re on Oʻahu and love cinnamon rolls, definitely check them out.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

No matter the background, beliefs, or reasons that brought them there, many gave up everything for something they believed was worth fighting for. That sacrifice deserves to be remembered and respected.

It’s easy to go through our daily lives without thinking much about the freedoms and moments we often take for granted. Today is a reminder that those freedoms came at a cost for many families.

From our ʻohana to yours, mahalo to all who served, sacrificed, and continue to carry that weight every day. ❤️🤍💙

Whenever we’re back home on Oʻahu, we always try our best to support local, especially small businesses. We know the grind firsthand, so we’re always grateful to support whenever we can.

Mahalo plenty to Chef Kale for having our ʻohana over at Kale’s Hale right after lei giving for graduation. 🌺🎓

Located in Kalihi, right below Kamehameha Schools… and let me tell you… we absolutely attacked the AYCE. 😂

The service was awesome, the meats kept coming, and the sinigang and luau soup? OFF. THE. HOOK. 🤤
As someone who loves onolicious soup more than I probably should, I was in my happy place.

Did I mention their special ōhelo berry cheesecake? 🤤
Love.

If you’re looking to:
• Stuff yourself with quality meat
• Eat with a small or very large group
• Or just want delicious AYCE because… you can

Kale’s Hale is the place to be. 🔥

When in Honolulu, go check them out!

Looking for a line cook to join our ʻohana 🌺

You don’t need experience. We can teach that. What matters most to us is to show up, good attitude, teamwork, and willingness to learn.

This job definitely isn’t for everyone. It can be fast paced, and some days can get pretty wild. BUT the people who stay and truly give it their all become family. They show up for each other every day, and that kind of bond is hard to find.

If you want to learn, grow, and work alongside good people, and have fun doing it, come apply 💪🏽

To start:
• Minimum wage + tip
• Opportunity to grow

Graduation season is almost here 🎓🌺

Need one more lei idea that’s simple, useful, and still gives that local feel? Brought some palaka lanyards back from Hawai’i. They make the perfect easy add-on gift. Clip it onto a bag of Noms candy, toss on a card, and pau already 🤙🏽

Practical, colorful, and something they can actually use after graduation too.

Sometimes the best gifts are the simple ones 🌺

Thank you all for the name input!!! 🌺

Coming up with a name for our new restaurant honestly felt like naming a baby.

We’re excited to officially announce our third restaurant…

Island Rootz Café by Aunty Maile’s 🌊

“Island” represents the people, places, and communities that shaped us. Hawaiʻi, local culture, family, food, music, and aloha.

“Rootz” represents staying grounded and authentic. Not chasing trends or pretending to be something we’re not. Just real people, real food, and a place rooted in culture, connection, and community.

will be taking over the current space in Pacific Square Plaza, right next to 🌺

To clarify, Café Pruvia will be closing at the end of May, while Pruvia Coffee will remain open and unchanged ☕️

We’ve been working closely with the owners Tyler and Cody during this transition and are grateful to now call them our neighbors.

While our menu and concept will be our own, a handful of Café Pruvia drinks will remain with us because honestly… they’re just too good to disappear.

If you’re a fan of their boba or swirls, go support them while they’re still serving those items through the end of May!

We’ll also be making a special exception allowing Pruvia Coffee drinks inside with your meal from

This location will be smaller, but still a cozy gathering spot built around fresh food, familiar faces, good vibes, and community. You’ll definitely be seeing familiar team members from our other locations here too!!!

June 1st will officially be our takeover day. Opening date, hours, and more details coming soon so follow our page to stay updated. 🤙🏼

Mahalo for always supporting our small family business 🙏🏼

For now, see you at or ! 🔥

Aloha,

If you’ve ever enjoyed a meal or had a good experience at a small business, please help us out and leave a review. 🥹

Not just for us at Aloha Platez and Aunty Maile’s Hawaiian Restaurant, but for any local spot you genuinely like. 🌺

It really matters.

These days, most people decide where to eat based on ratings and reviews. If there aren’t enough, or they’re not strong, people just move on, no matter how good the place actually is.

There’s also a side people don’t usually see…

We get emails offering to remove bad reviews for hundreds of dollars each.
We get calls offering to post batches of detailed 5-star reviews over a period of time with photos using networks of accounts.

That exists. But it’s not something we believe in.

We’d rather earn it the right way, with real experiences and honest feedback. ☺️

So if you’ve had a good experience, sharing it helps more than you think. It helps people find that business, and it helps keep us going.

And if something ever feels off at a place you usually enjoy, let us/them know. Most have an open door policy and the management that care wants to know and improve.

Appreciate you all for the continued support.

Mahalo plenty 🤍

My personal favorite is our Hawaiian Poke, no sauce, just simply seasoned with sea salt, kukui nuts, ogo, and onions. It lets the fish stay the main character, exactly where it belongs.

Fun fact about our roots in culture and food. 🌺

Kai was born here, but he is Hawaiian by blood, Kanaka Maoli, with his family roots in Oʻahu and the Big Island, and some in Kauaʻi. Hawaiian culture has always been part of his life through family, music, stories, and deep respect.

His late father, Keala Tsukiyama, brought the first Hawaiian music radio program to the mainland. 📻 KGIL 1260 Sounds of Hawaiʻi, sharing Hawaiian language, stories, and culture with people far from home.

I was also born here, but my family is from Tokyo and Kanazawa, deeply rooted in Japanese culture. I was raised in both languages surrounded by the values of respect, honor, and care. For my family, staying connected with nature has always been extremely important.

My father left Tokyo for O’ahu (Kailua) in his youth before coming to California, so Hawaiʻi too has always been part of my life through family, friendships, community, and food.

My mother while running her own business, then later becoming a Vice Principal, trained under professionals in cooking and baking. She taught me that food should be simple, made with balance, respect, and heart.

Food has always been part of both of our families, from Kai’s Aunty’s family businesses like Nishi Catering on Oʻahu and his parents’ Classic Saimin in Gardena, to the homemade meals and traditions I grew up with.

So when we talk about authenticity, it is because this is not something we learned later.

It is how we were raised. 🌺

Perks of being on the team? Employee meals go across BOTH locations, so when cravings call, we answer. Family business means family benefits. 💪🏼

Meanwhile we’re over here at Aunty Maile’s having a ball, keeping the good vibes rolling. Come see us at BOTH spots today, great food, great people, and apparently Robert living his best life one burrito at a time. 🤙🏼🌺
