Today is National Cannoli Day!

Here's a little history...
Cannoli originated in Palermo, Sicily and was traditionally prepared for the Pre-Lent Carnivale season. As an essential part of Sicilian cuisine the cannoli borrows it name from the shells long tubular shape - meaning "Little Tube". Cannoli is a fried pastry shell stuffed with sweetened Ricotta cheese, bits of chocolate and a touch of cinnamon. It is thought that cannoli might have been a symbol of fertility.
