What people say

Lenchitas Restaurant on Van Nuys Boulevard in Los Angeles is a must-visit for anyone who loves breakfast and brunch restaurants. This Tex-Mex restaurant has been a community fixture since the late 1970s, and its owner, Angelita Alvarez Renteria, is renowned for serving some of the best tamales in L.A. But that's not all - Lenchitas offers a wide variety of dishes that are sure to satisfy any craving.

One of the highlights of Lenchitas is their combination platters, which feature not only tacos and chiles rellenos but also grandmother-style stews served with rice and beans. These informal tastes of plain, second-generation Mexican home cooking are served with big stacks of freshly made tortillas, making for a truly authentic dining experience.

If you're looking for antojitos (snacks), Lenchitas has you covered there too. Their handmade masa forms the basis for dryish gorditas, large tacos that are almost too big to eat, simple quesadillas stuffed with melted cheese, and especially nice sopes. And if you're in the mood for soup, Lenchitas has some of the best in Los Angeles - try their rich chicken soup or chile-laced beef soup called picadillo. The minty broth hiding enormous albondigas (meatballs) flavored with onions and herbs is also a standout dish.

Overall, Lenchitas Restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone looking for authentic Mexican food in Los Angeles. With its friendly atmosphere and delicious dishes made from scratch using traditional recipes, it's no wonder this restaurant has been a community favorite for decades.
