Alas, our mantra of “eat more tacos” has been sidelined. As everyone already knows, COVID-19 hit our community and industry pretty hard. On April 4th we decided to closed our doors temporarily during the 1st shutdown phase. With each passing week the difficulties of reopening became more apparent. Health concerns for both our employees and patrons, in addition to the mounting restrictions and guidelines, have added a tremendous strain on our industry. Unfortunately, and with a heavy heart, we have decided to close Taco Asylum at the Camp.
During our tenure, we had the honor of working with amazing employees and the privilege of meeting many wonderful customers. You will genuinely be missed.
We are grateful to have had the opportunity to share Taco Asylum’s food and service with the community. Although we are uncertain of the future for Taco Asylum, we are optimistic.
In the meantime, we ask that you please continue to support your local restaurants and breweries during this pandemic. They need your support more than ever. We wish our all our neighbors and local restaurants the best of luck during these difficult times.
Lastly, we would like to thank for all their support and vision for creating a truly unique experience.
Stay safe and healthy out there.
Sincerely,
The Taco Asylum Family

We thank you for supporting Taco Asylum during these uncertain times. We, like many other restaurants, are doing what we can to keep our heads above water. To ensure we don’t drown, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors until we see a clear path to re-open again. If you are in the position, please continue to support your favorite local small businesses. Like they say, we’re all in this together.

What people say
Mexican restaurants are known for their delicious and flavorful dishes, and Taco Asylum in Costa Mesa is no exception. This restaurant specializes in creating unique and inventive tacos that are sure to satisfy any craving. The use of fresh ingredients prepared from scratch every day ensures that each dish is bursting with flavor.
One of the standout features of Taco Asylum is their own unique tortillas, marinades, and sauces made in-house using only the freshest ingredients. This attention to detail and commitment to quality sets them apart from other Mexican restaurants.
In addition to their amazing food, Taco Asylum also offers a great selection of craft beer on tap and canned beers. Guests can also enjoy housemade aquas frescas and a unique selection of all-natural bottled sodas.
The industrial feel of the restaurant adds to the overall experience, with unfinished concrete flooring, exposed ducting, hanging industrial wire-caged miner lights, reclaimed wood walls with rusted copper accents, and unfinished reclaimed wood tables featuring metal shop stools. Soft banquet seating and barstools are offset with galvanized plumbing pipe supports.
Taco Asylum is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., making it a great spot for lunch or dinner. Happy Hour runs 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, offering guests even more value for their money.
Overall, if you're looking for a delicious Mexican meal paired with great beer in an industrial-chic setting, Taco Asylum is definitely worth checking out!
