Meet the Owner of Liquid Leaf ☕💚

Hi! I’m Natalie, the owner of Liquid Leaf.

Many people don’t know that I’m also the founder of Spartan Defense, a personal safety alarm company that has been featured on national television multiple times. I continue to own that business, but I realized I was still searching for another purpose.

That purpose became creating a coffee shop where people can slow down, connect, make memories, and where customers become friends, and eventually family.

My original dream was to open a café called Luna & Lattes, named after our youngest daughter. But when the opportunity to purchase Liquid Leaf came along, I knew I could bring that dream to life here.

Owning a coffee shop isn’t easy, but I truly love people. I love supporting local businesses, creating jobs, and building a place where everyone feels welcome.

So let me reintroduce myself. I’m Natalie, and I hope you’ll give us the chance to show you what the new Liquid Leaf is all about. A new owner, a new vision, and a new experience. Thank you for allowing us to earn your trust, one cup at a time. ❤️

A huge shoutout to Anissa! 💚

For the past weeks while I was away in the Philippines, Anissa stepped up in the biggest way. She is one of those people I truly trust at the shop, and knowing she was there gave me so much peace of mind while I was thousands of miles away.

When you walk through our doors, she’s often the first smiling face to greet you. She takes your order, sometimes makes your drinks, prepares your fresh sandwiches, helps keep everything running smoothly, and somehow still finds time to send me photos and videos so I can continue sharing our journey on social media.

She is one of the superheroes behind Liquid Leaf. Her hard work, reliability, and willingness to do whatever needs to be done never go unnoticed.

I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to hire her back. Thank you, Anissa, for taking such great care of our customers, our team, and our shop. People like you are the heart of what makes Liquid Leaf so special. We appreciate you more than words can say. 💚

Simple living in the Philippines has a way of reminding me where I came from and how far life has brought me. 🇵🇭💚

Sitting in nature with my favorite Liquid Leaf Matcha Latte, surrounded by the mountains and endless greenery, fills my heart with gratitude. This is where my story began, and every time I come back, I’m reminded to stay humble, appreciate the journey, and be thankful for every blessing along the way.

Grateful for where I started, grateful for where I am today, and excited for what’s still to come.

Some people come into your life for a reason, and meeting Mommy Rebecca was one of those moments. ❤️

Back in February, when I was visiting the Philippines, my high school teacher gave my husband and me two 1-kilo bags of coffee beans from Gacayan General Merchandise. We instantly fell in love with the rich, bold flavor.

A few days ago, I finally had the privilege of meeting the woman behind it all. Mommy Rebecca. She is the sweetest soul who lovingly calls me “Anak,” which means “my child.” Her kindness is matched only by her inspiring story. Through her passion for coffee and her coffee farm in the mountains of Sultan Kudarat, she was able to send her children to medical school.

What touched my heart the most is that she no longer has to do this. Yet she continues because her purpose is so much bigger than herself. She is passionate about helping local coffee farmers earn a better living and giving back to her community by helping build schools for children living in the mountains. That kind of selflessness is rare and deeply inspiring.

Her mission speaks to my heart because I grew up in a financially challenged family in the province of the Philippines. I know what it feels like to dream of a better future, and because of that, I want to be part of her purpose. If, through Liquid Leaf, I can help bring amazing Filipino coffee to the U.S. while creating more opportunities for Filipino farmers and their communities, then that’s a dream worth chasing.

I’m hopeful that one day we’ll partner together to bring her bold Filipino coffee to Liquid Leaf as our very own Kapeng Barako line. It would be an honor to share not just incredible coffee, but the story, the people, and the purpose behind every cup.

Thank you, Mommy Rebecca, for treating me like family. I will always treasure being called your Anak. 🇵🇭☕❤️

If you’re in Murrieta today, stop by and show some love to Lily, the amazing 16-year-old owner of Temecula Lemon Ranch ! 🍋💛

She’s set up at Club Pilates in Murrieta, right next to Liquid Leaf. Building a business at such a young age takes courage, determination, and a whole lot of hard work. Let’s show her that our community believes in young entrepreneurs by showing up and supporting her.

Every purchase, every share, and every word of encouragement makes a difference. Let’s help Lily continue chasing her dream! 💛🍋

This is to answer a post from Temecula Talk group. Since my response to the post hasn’t been approved by the group’s admin.

When I purchased this coffee shop, I knew I wanted to create something that reflected my own values, not simply continue what was here before.

One of the biggest changes we made was switching from commercial coffee to beans roasted by a local roaster. Our beans are independently lab tested to ensure they are mold-free because quality matters to us. We also upgraded about 95% of our ingredients to organic whenever possible. Our breakfast and lunch items are made fresh to order, and we intentionally support other local and small businesses whenever we can.

Many people don’t realize that running a small business today looks very different than it did just a few years ago. When I took over, the previous owner paid significantly less for rent, insurance, and labor. Today, our lease costs more, insurance costs more, taxes are higher, ingredients are more expensive, and every operating expense has increased.

One promise I made to myself before opening was that I would pay my employees a livable wage and not just minimum wage. I believe the people who take care of our customers deserve to be able to support themselves and their families. That commitment is something I will never compromise.

Ironically, while I work 80–100 hours a week, I personally make about $3–4 an hour. I don’t do this because it’s financially rewarding. I do it because I genuinely love what I do. Seeing my team grow from four employees to eighteen and watching our customers enjoy what we create is worth more to me than a paycheck.

The prices that are often criticized online are usually for our specialty drinks with size upgrades, cold foam, extra espresso shots, or other customizations. Our regular coffee and classic lattes start at just $5.50. Like most coffee shops, the price increases only when customers choose larger sizes or additional ingredients.

Based on the photo that has been shared, the tea shown is a 32 oz drink. Not our standard size. Our regular 12 oz hot tea starts at just $4.50. We also want to mention that tea is something we are currently phasing out. We only continue to offer a small selection because we know some of our longtime customers still enjoy them. Coffee and matcha are where our passion is, and that’s where we’ve chosen to invest in better beans, organic matcha powder, higher-quality ingredients, and a better overall experience.

We’re also sometimes compared to what this shop used to be. I understand that change isn’t easy. But I didn’t buy this business to recreate someone else’s vision. I bought it to build my own, based on the food and drinks I proudly serve my own family and friends.

The hardest part of this journey hasn’t been the long hours. It’s been the personal attacks. Since taking over, I’ve received threatening and harassing direct messages from people who wanted this shop to remain exactly as it was before. That has been incredibly difficult, but I choose to keep moving forward because eighteen employees now rely on this business, and many wonderful customers continue to believe in what we’re building.

To everyone who has walked through our doors, whether you became a regular or visited just once, thank you. Your support allows us to continue investing in quality ingredients, supporting local businesses, creating jobs, and serving our community.

All I ask is this: before judging us based on a review or someone else’s opinion, come experience us for yourself. You may find that what we’re trying to build is something worth supporting.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to do what we love every single day.
