It was great to catch up with Richard, owner of The Sub Station. Between the two of us, there’s over 100 years of local business experience standing in this photo — Richard started in 1972, and George’s Drive-In has been serving our community since 1974.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to be there for Richard’s final day on June 20, but I was honored to spend some time with him and hear some of his stories. Building and maintaining a successful business for over 50 years is no small accomplishment.
Wishing Richard all the best in retirement and whatever adventures come next. Thank you for your years of dedication to the community—you’ve certainly earned it!

Hey family and friends…
Sorry I’ve been busy. We’ve been working hard on improving what we can around here. I’m not neglecting you guys — I just honestly haven’t put much thought into what to post about lately.
So how about an old story about Harvey?
If you didn’t know Harvey, he worked for my mom and dad for probably 40 years. I used to close with him at the Cactus.
One night he says, “Hey, let’s change the deep fryer oil for Chief.” That’s what he called my dad.
I said, “Okay… why don’t you do it if you know how.”
So Harvey starts changing the oil, and then suddenly I hear him scream, “Oh no!”
I’m like, “What?!”
I look over and there’s oil EVERYWHERE.
He didn’t drop anything… he just wasn’t paying attention and grabbed a plastic pickle bucket to drain the oil into. That hot oil went through that bucket like butter.
For the next two hours we did everything we could to get it cleaned up before my dad got back.
Sure enough, Dad walks in, looks at us, and says, “You dummies.”
Then he just turned around and walked back out.
I still laugh thinking about it now… but at the time, yeah, it really sucked.
And if you’re wondering about Harvey, I talked to him a few months ago. He’s doing well and living in Hemet. He also hates when I tell people that story… but oh well.
Talk to everyone soon. Thanks.

Good evening, Family & Friends
If you’d like to add a shirt to my employee order, please DM me your quantity and sizes.
Pricing will probably be:
• S–XL: around $16
• Larger sizes: a few dollars more
The shirts I usually order typically go up to 3X, but I’m checking other brands for additional sizes.
I’ll be placing the employee order on 6/10 so we can have them ready before 7/1.
For anyone outside the area, the shirts are also available on the website for shipping https://shop.georgesdrivein.com. If you’re local, ordering through me and picking up in-store helps save on shipping costs.
Thank you all so much for the support ❤️🤍💙

Thank you to Tricia for sending me this.
Roadside favorites do not stick around since 1974 by accident. They survive because people keep coming back hungry and leaving happy. Simple as that.

Good afternoon family and friends,
Today I was driving to meet up with friends for lunch at Sonora Grill . Another friend who runs a great restaurant. If you're in Moreno Valley, give him a try.
On the way, I noticed Joe’s Italian. I used to go there years ago. It’s been sold a few times over the years, but it still says Joe’s.
It got me thinking about my restaurant.
If all the places through the years had kept the same name, our place would probably now be considered close to 75 years in business. We’ve personally operated the same business for over 52 years, but the corner of 9910 Magnolia has been serving burgers to this community since the 1950s.
I’ve worked hard to keep my parents’ place going because I wanted to continue their legacy. But really, it’s become something bigger than that. It’s the legacy of a community restaurant that has been here for generations.
If you only knew the effort it takes to keep something like this going, you’d probably think I was crazy. But I’ve never been afraid of hard work.
I truly appreciate all the kind comments and support people have sent me over these past few months. It means more than you know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Side note — another longtime business owner and friend is being forced to close after 54 years on June 30th. Richard at The Sub Station by UCR. If you’ve never stopped by there, give them a try and thank him for all the years.
Independent restaurants understand each other. We’ve spent decades serving our communities, raising families through these businesses, and trying our best to give people a place that feels familiar.
The restaurant business has changed a lot over the years, but we’re still here.
And as long as people keep walking through those doors, we’ll keep showing up every day and doing what we’ve always done.

So here is my next project. The photos are AI so not 100% but I was thinking I wanted to change the layout to give options for larger groups.
---
We’re exploring new dining room ideas at George’s Drive In — combining our classic retro booth style with a more open, flexible seating layout for families, groups, quick lunches, and everything in between.
The goal:
✅ More comfort
✅ More flexibility
✅ Better flow
✅ Same George’s feel you know and love
Some guests love the cozy booth experience… others prefer open seating and larger tables. Why not both?
These are early concept ideas, but we’d love to hear from YOU:
👉 Which seating style would you choose?
❤️ Classic booths
👍 Open banquette seating
🔥 A mix of both

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there. ❤️
To the moms who give everything without asking for anything in return…
thank you.
For the love, the sacrifices, the strength, the patience, and the comfort only a mother can give.
Happy Mother’s Day from our family to yours. 🌷

Good afternoon family and friends 🇬🇷
When I posted the 4th of July shirt, someone—Linda Bell—reminded me not to forget my Greek roots.
I want you to know… I haven’t.
That design was just for the 4th, but her comment stuck with me. So I started working on something special for next year’s Greek Independence Day – March 25th.
Here’s an early look at the direction I’m going 👇
Still a work in progress, but I wanted to share it and say thank you. I really do read the comments, and I try to take them to heart when I can.
Let me know what you think so far.

Kalo Mhna!! 🌼
Wishing everyone a healthy, happy, and prosperous month.
Today is May 1st—known in Greece as Protomagia.
Protomagia traces back to ancient Greece as a celebration of spring, nature, and the beauty of blooming flowers. The month of May—Maios—marks the final chapter of spring and is named after the goddess Maia, a symbol of nurturing and new life. Her name comes from the ancient word for “mother” and “midwife,” reflecting the spirit of growth and renewal this season brings.

🇺🇸 Stickers are IN! 🇺🇸
We just got our new George’s 4th of July stickers… and they turned out 🔥
Now here’s the deal — these are limited, and we want to make sure we have plenty closer to the 4th… BUT we’re going to release a small batch early 👀
Why? Because our loyal family and friends deserve a little something extra.
👉 Starting soon, we’ll be handing out a limited number of stickers to our loyal followers — think of it as a small thank you for all the support.
Once this first batch is gone… we’re holding the rest until closer to the 4th 🇺🇸
So if you’ve been following, liking, commenting… this one’s for you.
Let me know what you think of them 👇

We’re officially live with our new system.
Credit card companies charge us on every transaction—
instead of raising prices across the board,
we’re giving the savings back to those who pay with cash.
Just a smarter way to keep things going.
Appreciate you all as always 🙏

The stories about my mom knowing what everyone orders were incredible…
It got me thinking…
Do you remember your first time coming to George’s?
What did you order?
Who were you with?
We’ve been here since 1974…
and I hear these stories all the time—they never get old.

Good morning family and friends ☀️
I’ve been busy working on this and wanted to check in with you all…
Do you think I’m heading in the right direction?
04/18/2026
Be honest…
Do you stand in line, look at the menu forever…
and still order the same thing every time? 😅
Back in the day, my mom knew some of our customers so well…
she’d see them in line and already put their order in.
They’d get to the window and she’d say:
“I already put it on for you.”
One guy once said, “What if I wanted something different?”
She just smiled and said…
“Too late.” 😂
👉 What’s YOUR “usual” when you come here?

🚨 IT’S BACK (for a trial run) 🚨
Our Pork Tenderloin Sandwich is making a comeback after 5 years.
This is a test run…
so we need your help — does it still hit like you remember? 👇🔥

Update at George’s Drive-In 🍔
Starting soon, we’ll be introducing a cash discount program.
💵 Pay with cash → receive a lower price
💳 Card payments will be at the pricing on the menus.
This change helps us manage the rising credit card fees, which have become a significant expense for small businesses like ours.
Also… believe it or not, we’re officially running out of pennies 😅
Banks (including Bank of America) are no longer supplying them regularly, so like many retailers, we’ll begin rounding totals to the nearest nickel for cash transactions.
We appreciate your understanding as we make these updates to keep George’s strong for years to come.
Since 1974 — Proud to Serve Our Community ❤️

Back at it Wednesday (4/8) — better than ever.

Our menu is HUGE… but what’s ONE thing you wish we had? 🍔👇
We’ve been doing this a long time…
but we’re always listening.
What’s the one item you’d add to George’s?

Today is National Mom & Pop Business Owners Day ❤️
This place wasn’t built by a corporation… it was built by family, long hours, and a lot of love.
Since 1974, George’s has been more than just burgers — it’s been a part of this community.
We’re proud to still be here, still family-owned, and still serving you the same way we always have.
Thank you for supporting local. It means everything. 🙏
