Whether you’re sipping something crisp and white, posted up at the bar with a dozen oysters, or just admiring the view (yes, the bar really does look that good now)—Walt’s Wharf is the place to be this season.
The weather’s still pretending it’s summer, but we’re easing into fall one pour and one plate at a time.
Come see what’s on the bar, and what’s on the grill. We’ll save you a seat.

If you know, you know. And if you don’t, come find out.

The rumors are true. (Well… sort of).
Word got out that Walt’s Wharf was planning to reopen on September 8th—but if you happened to be walking down Main Street (or just really craving our oak-grilled artichokes), you probably noticed that we quietly opened our doors on the 2nd. Surprise!
Guest reactions have been better than anything we could’ve hoped for. We've seen people dance outside our windows when they realize we’re open. We’ve watched faces light up walking through the doors as guests see what we’ve done to the place. We’ve heard stories from families who’ve been dining here for decades—first dates, anniversaries, birthdays, Sunday rituals. It never gets old.
After such a lengthy closure, we weren’t sure how this next chapter would begin. But all of you have welcomed us back with the same love and loyalty that built Walt’s in the first place.
Yep, we’re open. We’re back. And we’re not going anywhere.(No really—this is our third reopening. We’re done disappearing, we swear.)
From the bottom of our grateful and slightly smoked hearts—thank you. Thank you for sticking with us through the uncertainty. Thank you for waiting patiently while we got back on our feet. And thank you for reminding us that this restaurant means something to this town of Seal Beach, to your families, and to all of you who’ve dined with us for decades.
Come on in. The grill’s hot, the fish is fresh, and we can’t wait to serve you again.

Fish is kind of our thing.
We’ve kept the spirit, with a fresh touch. We’ll be back behind the grill in no time!

😞 We feel your pain. 365 days of doors closed due to the fire that occurred the morning of 1/29/24. With our building being over 100 years old, its repairs are being handled delicately and with lots of TLC. Our teams are working hard and as swiftly as permitted and possible to complete this timely task. Please trust and know that Walt’s Wharf will return. The Babcock family (the business has NOT sold despite the rumors) still at the helm, your valid gift cards will still be honored (we’ve received numerous calls about that) and our team; old and new, ready to see and serve you again. Still no exact reopen date but rest assured…WE WILL BE BACK.

And so it begins. Saving the sentimental stuff as we prepare inside demo and repairs. It’s been a month since the fire came through but not too much longer til we get back to serving you. Permanent closure, sold and new ownership, reopening as a Chinese restaurant, etc. …??? 😆😂🤣All false. We WILL be back as Walt’s Wharf and ownership has not changed. See you all soon.

A huge thank you to the Seal Beach community and surrounding areas for your support with this mornings unfortunate incident. Our staff is fine and safe. Business was not operating yet so no patrons inside or affected by the fire. Thank goodness. Cause of fire not yet determined and as expected we will be closed until further notice. To the Seal Beach fire department and all the others that responded so quickly to save our historic building we thank you and are so appreciative of you doing all that could be done to keep our building protected and in the best shape possible.
Thanks to all for your concern. We greatly appreciate it.
