Good morning one and all. It would be hard to express just how bummed I am making this post, but it is what it is.

Recently we picked up a large number of followers in a big part because of the meal deals we have been doing on Fridays and Sundays. I mean let's face it, other than those posts there is not a lot that happens on this page other than holiday news. The fact that you have come here for those deals makes it all the harder to announce that tonight's pork chops are going to be the last of those meal deals.

I could go in to all the reasons behind that but it's not important in the bigger picture, it's the end result of those reasons and thoughts that matter.

I would like to thank you for the support for this little game. It has been fun and rewarding in so many ways. I have loved doing what we can to help stretch some food budgets, and just to play with menu options we don't have on our regular menu. I wish it was something we could just continue do, but, ya know, reasons.

It is entirely possible that for at least some of the things we have done with the dinners there will be an alternative option if I can work out the details for a pick up during regular hours and reheat later option. I'll look into the logistics of that.

Anyway, one more time, Thank you so much for your support and interest in the deals. It means more than you might realize how much you all supported the adventure.

ENJOY!!!

So thank you again for the support and for playing along with us.

So the meal deal for this Friday, May 15th (yep, nearly halfway through the month) is going to be pork chops! And, of course, applesauce. Because ya know, pork chops - applesauce, they go together better than peanut butter and milk chocolate in a Reese's! This meal will also have mashed potatoes and some of those yummy rolls. I hear arguments that the applesauce is sort of dessert, I'm not sure I agree. You will find out who wins that discussion when you pick up Friday evening!

Details for all you new followers. The meal deal is $40 out the door for a full sized, feed an average family of four, sized meal. $20 out the door gets you half that much (feeds two, duh)

You pay when you pick up. You pick up between 5:15 P.M. and 6 P.M. on Friday May 15th. If you need to be later than 6, let me know ahead of time and we can work with you. Want to order it and pick up on another day? Just let me know when you comment on this thread with what size meal you want. When it hits 6P.M. I put any unpicked up orders in bags for pick up the next day during regular (7-3) hours. Unless, of course, you contact me before 6. I don't mind waiting because life happens, but I need to know about it before six.

Does this post read suspiciously like last month? Yep, clearly I just cut and pasted from last month and took out the part about Ava having a birthday because that was last month and she only has one a year....

Good morning one and all! For those of you who just want to find out what the dinner is and need more help than the picture you might want to skip to the end....

So generally speaking one could say that many of my posts are rather casual, breezy and meandering. This is sort of one of those posts, but a tiny bit of depth. This meal deal is for Sunday May 9th, which this year just happens to be Mother's day. There was some question in my mind, and Leilani's mind, as to how many people would want dinner. When I polled that it was mixed results. I had originally planned on making a new creation. Someone mentioned the idea of "baked spaghetti" a few posts back and that got me searching. Kathy has an issue with spaghetti, and with it being Mother's day and all, I figured perhaps I should make something she would enjoy, which would not be a baked spaghetti. I stumbled across this casserole that is sort of a pizza type thing that is based on egg noodles, something she does enjoy. (thus the frequency of the chicken stroganoff) It has a couple thousand reviews, generally favorable. The less than favorable reviews tended to be about things that would not apply to how I would actually make it as many recipes to me are simply starting place guidelines. Anyway, then there were a few, let's go with, complications, with last nights meal. I can't tell you how deeply I care about things within my control that go sideways. If you don't like something we do like the cinnamon in the pancakes, I really don't care because that's my recipe and nearly everyone loves them. Your food was made wrong? Yeah that I care about. Anyway, that whole thing has me a bit wary of experimenting on you all this week. Plus Kathy is going to Disneyland for Mother's day, so I don't need to worry about her diet preferences. So with that all said, and yes the pizza casserole will happen, just not tomorrow, let's get to why you're here!

Sunday May 10th meal deal will be the spaghetti carbonara, or as some call it, bacon spaghetti. Because, ya know, BACON! This meal deal will come with a lovely green salad, some of those yummy and delicious rolls and, of course, some sort of dessert, because, dessert. Let's face it, that's the part of these meals you all really look forward to right? Finding out what our dessert queen will create this time around. I know I'm excited about it. I think I'm going to try and talk her into either the apple thingys or the double decker brownie. I guess we'll find out when she starts mixing!

The usual details apply. $40 out the door for a full size, feed four deal. $20 for half that much. Pick up starts at 5:15 P.M. and I start closing it up at 6:00 P.M. unless you let me know you need it later. And yes, as always you can order and pick up Monday as well.

Alrighty people, let's get claiming!

05/08/2026

For Mother's day (May 10th, not today as I'm typing this, nor the Sunday after the next one which is not the correct Sunday either) we will be offering, are you sitting down? Yep, surprise, surprise, Aunt Becky's egg bake, (Cheese, eggs, cheese, Ortega chili, cheese, cottage cheese, sausage and, of course, cheese. Oh, and hint of flour) a LARGE serving of fruit (a well filled 9 inch deep pan), and a variety of some sort of pastries and or muffins. The mothers day version is a slight alteration on the original as it is baked on top of hash-browns. There will be 6 servings available each hour starting at 8:00 until 11:00. As always, the meal is designed to feed a family of four.
So a total of 24 spots, 6 per hour starting at 8 A.M.
It will set you back $40 out the door.
First to claim the times slot gets in.

Oh, and just a reminder as well, if you are ever planning on dining in, but especially on Mother's day, please call ahead and get on our PRIORITY seating list (note, we don't call it a reservation as we can't promise seating at the exact time you request, but it will be close to that time) while there is still some room for you.

Most of you have played this game before, so my only question right now is if anyone is going to claim a spot before Michele and Nick claim those first to spots at 8....
Okay, let's fill up this list!

Yeah, yeah, it's Wednesday morning, not Thursday. I know I know. I just want to get this one started so I can post about the Aunt Becky's Egg Bake for Mother's day, which is this coming Sunday people so get on that art project your building for mom!

For the Friday May the 8th family meal deal we will be doing that wonderful sweet'n'sour pork! Mostly because I want some, kind of like all the meals I pick now that I think about it. Anyway, this meal will have pork, egg fried rice, some egg drop soup and what ever dessert the returning dessert queen Leilani decides to provide you all with. It will be a surprise to me as well. I suspect it will be yummy as usual. May possibly even be inspired by the sweet and sour, who knows. With that woman anything is possible.

We have a whole stack of new followers who might not be as familiar, so here are all the details....

It will cost you $40 out the door for the full sized, feed and average family of four, sized meal deal.

Amazingly, $20 will get you half that much!

Pick up starts at 5:15 P.M. on Friday (May 8th) and is done at 6:00 P.M. unless you let me know before 6 that you need longer. You can also order and pick up Saturday if you need to do that.

Unless I make a post late on Friday afternoon (like after 4:00 P.M.) that things are rolling ahead of schedule, showing up before 5:15 will just give you a chance to visit out front with whomever is in the area. If it will be early I will post about it.

You order by commenting on the thread. Don't panic if I don't reply right away, I will see your comment eventually.

If I have not posted that the list is full there is in fact room on the list and we can continue to add to it until early afternoon on Friday.

Okay, so now you know what it is, when it is, where it is (I figured it was a given that it's here at Cowboy) and how much it is. What say we get this list started!?!

Yes I've used this one before, but hey, it's worth a replay.... :-)

So next Sunday, May 10th is Mother's day. I know you all know that and don't need a reminder but I do have a question. We will, of course be doing the Aunt Becky's egg bake early like we always do. The list for that will be coming soon. My question is about dinner. Do you all want us to do a Sunday meal deal dinner on Mother's day, or will you all be taking mom out to dinner? I know none of you would dream of making her cook or clean so no one is eating at home right? Any way, let me know what you think. I'm easy and can go either way.

When you go to create a post it pops up and asks "What's on your mind?" I just have to say that I ignore that because trust me, you really don't want to that. It's safer for all of us if I just keep that to myself....

Don't those chips look tempting? It has been suggested that we just open up a chip company by some who have had our house made chips. It's an idea. In this case though it will just be one part of the Sunday, May 3rd, one week before Mother's day (and yes there will be egg bake for Mother's day), meal deal. The experienced people already know this will mean rice, beans and those wonderful green chili, chicken and cheese (try and say that three times fast, see if you don't end up with green chicken chili cheese....) enchiladas. And some sort of dessert even if the dessert queen has deserted us for the desert. Dessert princess Ava will more than capably step in to cover.

The details are the same as usual, $40 out the door for the full sized, feed an average family of four, sized meal. $20 gets you half that much. Pick up will start at 5:15 P.M. and I close it all up at 6P.M. unless you let me know you're running behind, in which case I'll hang out, read all about the days sports activities, maybe play a game, or whatever distraction comes my way until you can make it.

For the rookies, pay when you pick up, Kathy loves cash but we have a card machine so that works too!

Uhmmm, I think we're good, you know what the meal is, when it is (tomorrow, Sunday, May 3rd, a week before mother's day, between 5:15 and 6 P.M., and how much it is. Right. So now just hit the comment tab and let us know if you want on the list! Chris is out of town so it's anyone's game today!

Good morning everyone! It's Thursday, the last and final day of April. Yep, tomorrows meal deal will be for Friday May the first. First day of May. A mere week and a couple day's before Mother's day. You're welcome for that reminder.

Okay, just in case the picture doesn't answer your biggest question, the Friday (May 1st, the first day of May because today is the last day of April, which comes before May) will be chicken stroganoff. This meal deal, as usual will come with a house green salad, a bag full of those tasty rolls we all love so much and some sort of dessert. Leilani is deserting me for Vegas, so she won't be here to make the dessert, because, again, she will be in the desert. I promise to make you something tasty. I have to say I am leaning towards the brownies because we haven't done those in a while because someone isn't a fan of chocolate and I have to twist her arm to get anything chocolate related on the dessert menu. But since she is deserting me to go to the desert I can do what ever I want!

Key information for new people and others who are coffee challenged this morning:

$40 out the door for a full sized, feed a family of four, sized meal deal.

$20 will get you half that much.

Pick up begins at 5:15 P.M. on Friday (tomorrow) May the 1st. (Yes, May)

Pick up ends at 6P.M. on Friday (tomorrow) May the first (yes that May)

If you will be late or need to pick up over the weekend just let me know and we can take care of you.

Since there will be no Leilani I have faith that this will not be ready early, so I'll see you between 5:15 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. tomorrow, Friday, May the first.

Let's get this thing started people, comment and claim yours!

04/25/2026

I have to tell you I seriously had no idea what I wanted to make for the meal deal tomorrow. I was looking through the recent meals trying not to repeat anything we have done too recently which is why the lasagna, carbonara and a couple other things aren't on the list. Then Brenda said she had been thinking about the chicken pot pies and well, guess what we will be serving tomorrow? Yep, yep, yeppers, it's the pot pie!

I'm thinking we will once again serve this with some variety of layered salad. Okay, some variety of salad anyway. It will have green stuff, probably some red things. I'll figure that out before we serve it. There will, of course, be dessert because I love dessert and Leilani loves to bake the things I come up with for her to create. Will it be something we've done before? Maybe. Will it be yummy and delicious? I'm thinking yes.

So this meal deal is for Sunday April 26th and will be our last meal deal for the month of April because next Friday is going to be May. Better start making your plans to celebrate Mom people, she deserves it and Mother's Day is just not that far away.

This meal deal only comes in the full sized version, so NO HALF SIZE this time around. Fortunately this meal is just as wonderful the second (and third) time around. I know at our place Kathy and I will be having this at least twice this coming week.

$40 out the door. Pick up will start at 5:15 P.M. tomorrow, Sunday, April 26th. Doors close at 6 P.M. unless you let me know you're running late. As you might guess from me pointing out it stores well, it works just fine if you need to wait until Monday to grab it. Let me know when you comment if you need a different pick up time.

Did I mention NO HALF SIZE for this meal deal? Okay, good because NO HALF SIZE this time around.

Alright people, let's get to claiming!

Well almost anyway. That teriyaki chicken was pretty amazing wasn't it? I'm thinking we need to do that one more often....

Good morning good morning! Thanks for the suggestions. Most of those will be coming your way soon, starting with the grilled teriyaki chicken!

This meal deal will feature the grilled teriyaki chicken (duh), some Hawaiian mac salad, some white rice (possibly with some grilled spam because Chef Che and I think that would be good), some Hawaiian rolls and rather likely some sort of dessert because Leilani will want something to do other than bag rolls. Sound good to you? Sounds good to me!

Okay details for everyone, especially any of you new followers who are unfamiliar with the Friday/Sunday meal deals. These meals are designed to feed an average family of four. They will set ya back $40 out the door. On most meals, this one included, there is the half sized option. Just in case you haven't had your coffee, that would mean $20 out the door to feed two. You pay when you pick up. Pick up will start tomorrow (Friday April 24th, as in nearly May...) at 5:15 P.M. and the doors close at 6:00 P.M. unless you have let me know it will be later pick up. Any meal not picked up by 6:00 P.M. will be bagged and available for pick up during our regular hours of 7A.M. to 3P.M. any other day. You claim yours by commenting here on this thread. I will accept orders through at least tomorrow (Friday April 24th, that less than a week from May day) afternoon. I don't always respond instantly to your comment, but if you comment have faith that I'll get around to letting you know you are on the list when I can.

I'm thinking this covers the bases. Thank you all for playing! Now it's time to try and beat Chris to the top spot!

Just a reminder that there will be no meal this Sunday, April 19th.

However if you would like to throw out some suggestions for what you would like to see in the near future please feel free to let us know what you want to see.

Yeah, yeah. It's Wednesday afternoon, not Thursday morning. I'm often confused, but not THAT confused. At least not today anyway...

So the meal deal for this Friday, April 17th (yep, more than halfway through the month) is going to be pork chops!

$20 out the door gets you half that much (feeds two)

You pay when you pick up. You pick up between 5:15 P.M. and 6 P.M. on Friday (April 17th, our miss Ava's birthday) If you need to be later than 6, let me know ahead of time and we can work with you.

Did I mention that Friday is Ava's birthday?

One more thing before we get to the posting and claiming part of this thing. THERE WILL BE NO MEAL DEAL ON SUNDAY THE 19th!!!. Not because of me still slowly recovering from that ugly few weeks of pneumonia, it's because pretty much all my front of house staff will be gone this weekend for various events. While I'm thinking about that. If you stop in on Saturday to eat (after calling ahead to get your table) You will see not only me all day, but my darling wife Kathy as well. Since she is no longer around on Tuesday's it will be a rare chance to visit with her as she tries to remember how to do this. Love you my beautiful and talented wife!

Okay, that covers it, get to claiming people!

The picture is a guideline, it will look different in your pan!

So hey, I was asking around about ideas and chef Benji suggested Chicken parm. I like chicken parm. So I guess we will be making you some chicken parm for the Sunday (April 12th) meal deal! I'm thinking garlic bread, a little pasta of some sort, maybe a green veggie and, of course, some sort of dessert, because, after all, I LOVE DESSERT!

Please read to the end as some things are changing. A little bit. Barely noticeable for most of you. Not even really a thing for nearly everyone...

For the new people; The meal deals are designed to feed an average family of four. It sets you back $40 out the door. On many meals, this one included, you can request a half size meal that is half as much food and twice the price. Oh. Wait. Half the price, not twice, half. So, ya know $20 not $40, because $20 is half as much as $40 for half as much food. Glad we got that cleared up.

You simply comment on the thread and let me know which size you want and then you are in!

Pick up begins at 5:15 P.M., tomorrow, Sunday, April 12th. And here is the slight, subtle, only affects a couple people, change. Unless you let me know there is a problem, because life happens, I get that. Pick up ends at 6P.M. Any orders not picked up by that point will go in a bag with your name on them and be available between 7 - 3 (our regular hours) which ever day you want to stop in. Stuck in traffic? Give me a call, make a comment, whatever, and I'll wait for you. Forgot to set a reminder and running behind? Yep, I'll happily wait. No call or comment? Goes in the bag for another day. You may also simply let me know you want it the following day, or whenever when you order and we will make that happen for you.

All right people, get to claiming!

I'm going to keep it shirt and to the point today. HEY! Stop laughing! I am!I can't believe you people don't believe me ...
04/09/2026

I'm going to keep it shirt and to the point today. HEY! Stop laughing! I am!

I can't believe you people don't believe me and think I'm going to get side tracked and off the point of the dinner for Friday! Have some faith in me!

This Friday, April 10th ( I know , right? April! And double digits at that!) We will be serving chicken stroganoff (probably, as usual, with enough sauce for you to add a small bag of egg noodles and stretch it just fine.) As usual we will serve this meal deal with salad and those yummy rolls. And a dessert. No idea what that will be so feel free to suggest something. Leilani is open to suggestion.

Details for our new people. The meal deal is designed to feed and average family of four for $40 out the door. In most cases, this one included, we offer a half size meal as well. The sharp ones who have had their coffee will be able to figure out that size feeds two and is $20 out the door.

You get this meal by commenting below that you would like one and which size. It will be ready for pick up starting at 5P.M. tomorrow (Friday April 10th) and hopefully is all picked up by 6P.M. so I can go home.

I think that covers it, and see, I told you, short and concise (ish)

Yes, I know I'm being lazy with the whole copy and paste from last year, which was a copy and paste from 2023, which was a copy and paste from 2022 which was..., well, you get the idea.

But at the same time I am changing it up, so maybe it's NOT being lazy, just smart?

TRADITION! If we are consistent with nothing else it is the family food traditions that came with us when we took over Cowboy.
One of the first we introduced was our Aunt Becky's egg bake on Easter 2015, and every year since. This year, in case the picture isn't a big enough hint, Easter will be Sunday April 5th.

The take out version of this meal, which many of you have been waiting for me to post about. You know who you are...

The to go version is more of a family style meal. The egg bake will come in a 9" serving pan along with 8 strips of bacon, 4 sausage patties, a couple slices of ham, a single biskit and gravy and a couple muffins. Good size to feed a family of four for the $40 out the door it will set you back. The take out version is limited to four spots each hour, starting with 4 available at 7:30, and then four per hour, each hour, between 8 A.M. and 11 with the last 4 going out at 11...

Please state your preferred time to pick up when you make your request. This can only be done here on FB, Yes, this is the part where you need to glance at the other comments above yours to make sure 4 others have not already claimed the hour you are requesting.

We will also be once again serving Aunt Becky's delicious sausage egg bake as a dine in option on a limited, first come first served basis. It features (duh) the yummy Aunt Becky's egg bake along with bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes, a biscuit and gravy AND a muffin!!!! Be hungry and plan not to stay that way.

This meal will be available inside on a limited basis starting at 8 A.M. until we are out of it. Make your plans to join us for this yummy delicious Easter tradition. Oh yeah, This will set ya back a mere $20 after tax. (I personally suggest sharing it as there is plenty...)

Oh, even if you are not joining us for this meal, but you are planning on joining us for our regular menu, PLEASE CALL AHEAD! The list for the day is already starting to fill in.

Okay then, I think this has been written in a way that makes sense, which is to say that when Kathy reads it there should only be a couple edits... especially since it is an edited version of last years post, which was an edited version of the one before that which was....

04/02/2026

LOOK! LASAGNA! Yep the meal deals are back. Well okay, there is a meal deal for tomorrow, Friday, April (yes it really is April) 3rd. There isn't one for Sunday for many reasons. Mostly because we will be doing the Aunt Becky's egg bake for Easter (yes that is this Sunday April 5th) and between me being here at 4 in the morning to start working on that and many of you all doing family gatherings I see very little reason to try the Sunday meal deal. So how about we talk about the Friday one instead?

As you can tell the meal deal tomorrow, Friday, April (yep, still going to be April already) 3rd will be lasagna. This meal will come with some yummy, buttery, seasoned and grilled garlic bread. There will be a green salad (probably a basic one with too many tomatoes, if there is such a thing) and bread pudding for dessert. It should be ready early, but I'm still saying ready at 5 just because.

For the rookies here's how it works. Comment on this post that you would like to play and I'll reply to let you know we have you covered. It will set you back $40 out the door for the full sized, feed an average family of four, meal. $20 will get you half as much. Pay when you pick up. Pick up starts at 5P.M. and is ideally finished by 6 so I can go home and see my lovely bride.

And yes, there will be a post about the Sunday morning egg bake tomorrow morning. You want some in case you didn't know....

I'm posting today because I am hopefully going to snuggled up asleep when you would expect this post tomorrow...

So after only something like10 days there has been a decision made on why I've been feeling a little under the weather. The down side to that is it's some strange thing that you pronounce with a "N" at the start even though it actually starts with a "P". So I plan on being in bed a whole lot for a few days. Here's hoping that actually means sleep and stuff like that.

So yeah, no meal deals this weekend, sorry.

Thank you everyone for the kind words and understanding. The team has pulled it together and the catering side of things is working out. Just letting you know that the Sunday Meal deal is not happening this week, sorry.

03/19/2026

So here's the story. It could be brief and concise, but I am the one writing it so don't count on that.

Starting last Friday I had an ambitious ten days in front of me. A Friday meal deal, a Sunday meal deal, Tuesday corned beef dinner, Friday meal deal, Saturday catering, Sunday meal deal. I personally love a good challenge and was all prepped and ready to play. Then on Saturday my body told my brain there was an uninvited guest in my body it didn't want. The brain, as it usually does in that situation decided the best course of action was to burn the evil interloper out. So since Sunday I've been having a minor issue with body temperature which has sort of slowed me down a tiny bit. Tiny bit. Just barely. Made it through the Sunday meal deal because dessert queen Leilani and chef Benji stepped up and took up the slack. Managed to get through the Tuesday corn beef dinner, albeit, slowly. So yeah. The Friday meal deal is off the books now so the team can focus on the Saturday catering event without me having having to do more than point now and then. By the way, the Saturday catering is for the Corona United Methodist Church. They are having their annual trustees dinner and auction. I believe there are still a few tickets left for this fun event. All kinds of treasures (and a few lesser treasures...) and a Hawaiian themed dinner featuring Teriyaki chicken, Hawaiian pork, Hawaiian mac salad, Asian slaw, Kings Hawaiian rolls, and some pineapple (possibly upside down) cake. It is possible, even likely that the Sunday meal deal will feature a similar menu.

So anyway, the short version. No meal Deal Friday. Sorry

Today is Saturday March 14th. Being the Saturday before St. Patrick's day that means that just South of us in San Diego the 44th annual St. Pat's parade will be kicking off around 10 this morning This is a really great event, the largest St. Pat's parade this side of the Mississippi in fact. It's an all day party with music, dance, crafts and, of course, food. It's very near and dear to me for so many reasons. I was the chairman for the 25th parade, and helped put it on for a great many years. The relevance for you is that this is also tied to my oldest (and prettiest he always claimed) brother Joe teaching me how to make his recipe corned beef. A recipe that I'll be using to serve dinner this coming Tuesday. As it turns out, this is also, and here comes the relevant part for the Sunday meal deal this week as this is also what the Sunday meal deal will be!

So here ya go. A couple pounds of my family recipe corned beef (slow cooked in Guinness), Some grilled cabbage, potatoes and carrots, some yum delicious Irish soda bread and perhaps some sort of dessert that Leilani discovered on some internet place.

The usual stuff applies, $40 out the door for a full sized, feed the average family of four sized meal, $20 for half that much. Pick up starts at 5:15 P.M. tomorrow, Sunday March 15th and is hopefully complete by 6 P.M. For the new people, you pay when you pick up.
You can lay claim to one of these meal deals by hitting the comment button and letting us know what size you want. And if you really love it know there will be more served on Tuesday evening, the one night a year we open for dinner.

Okay, that appears to be a bases covered post So let's get to the claiming part of this post.

Oh, and a little video from way back in the day, the year I was chairman of that little parade thingy in San Diego....
