We’re honored to receive this year’s L.A. Times Gold Award. Thank you to .ochoa and everyone at for the recognition, and for decades of support, including the late, great Jonathan Gold.
Since Al and Jean Langer opened our doors at 7th & Alvarado in 1947, we have done things the slow way. That means pastrami steamed for hours until it’s fork-tender, rye rebaked and sliced hot, and every sandwich hand-cut at the counter. This award belongs to our whole crew, who have served Southern California for 79 years. Most of all, thank you to our customers, because you are the reason we have stayed open so long.

Thursday marked the Dodgers’ final home game of the regular season, and we’ve loved seeing so many of you come through our doors in Dodger blue before making your way to Chavez Ravine.
A great sandwich, a little LA baseball, and a city coming together for its team. It doesn’t get much more Los Angeles than that.
But we’re not done yet.

Of course, we're known around the world for our #19 — pastrami piled high on our famous double-baked rye bread, topped with coleslaw, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. But our menu is full of engaging, delicious adventures, like our pastrami French dip on a French roll.
Thanks to the Los Angeles Times, which pulled back the curtain and spotlighted this treasure. “The mountain of pastrami in the middle is seven-slices high. It's arranged in such a way that the meat covers every inch of bread, then just barely hangs over the edge in enticing fragments you can pluck out whenever the fancy strikes,” wrote Harris under a headline that called it the best pastrami dip sandwich in the city.

Some news worth celebrating reopens September 15th at 7th Ave and 54th St, in the old Stage Deli space. Sarri Harper is the one bringing it back (third generation) following in the footsteps of her grandfather Milton Parker, who first bought the deli in 1976.
New Yorkers have broken bread with Carnegie for decades and we couldn’t be happier to see the lights back on. For those in , go down there, order the pastrami, and tell them Langer's Deli sent you. Mazel Tov! 🥪

To get to South Alvarado Street in Los Angeles by public transportation, you can take a metro bus or rail to Union Station and transfer to the DASH Downtown F bus, which will drop you off at the intersection of Alvarado Street and 7th Street. Alternatively, you can take the Metro Purple or Red Line to Westlake/MacArthur Park Station and walk about 10 minutes south on Alvarado Street.
If driving, take the 110 Freeway and exit at 6th Street. Go west on 6th Street and turn right onto Alvarado Street. There is paid street parking available nearby, as well as a parking lot located at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street.
