ON THIS FLAG DAY ...

BASILICO'S CELEBRATES ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC BATTLE STORIES OF THE AMERICAN FLAG!

In 1814, the British Royal Navy unleashed 25 hours of constant and massive bombardment on Fort McHenry in Baltimore Maryland.

American Francis Scott Key who was held captive on a nearby British ship was forced to watch the attack on his country, while a massive 30 x 42 Garrison flag flew above it all.

The next day he assumed the fort's destruction was inevitable, but instead when dawn broke, he looked through his spyglass and saw the Americans raise the giant American flag again, this time tattered and torn from shelling, shrapnel and harsh weather, but still flying proudly and signaling victory.

The large flag was chosen so the British would have no difficulty in seeing its survival through the smoke. It represented strength, resilience and courage! The sight inspired Francis Key to write the poem that became our national anthem.

After fighting our Anti-American woke enemies since 2020, in memory of great battles like the one at Fort McHenry and in honor of the great American heroes who have fought them and inspired us, we raised our own up the 40 ft. 'Basilico's Flag Pole'.

So when you see it in front of our restaurant, we hope that you will remember and honor them too.
