it’s with a moderately weighted heart that i get to announce mazal will be officially closing its doors the weekend of november 13, over 6 years after we opened in 2020. hopefully this is enough time to get at least one last visit in; there will not be a mazal 2.0.

please understand this is a good break that we are very much looking forward to, and we are closing on our own terms. although this has been the most rewarding experience of my life, i have slaved away here with my family for the better part of a decade (including the several years it took to build the restaurant from scratch with my father) and we’ve definitely earned the sabbatical. my fam & i have collectively decided we want to take advantage of a rare opportunity we have this year to shut down, take a long ass break, and travel and enjoy life quietly for a while.

i’ll personally be going off the grid for a few months after we close. if you wanna find me, i’ll more than likely be doing my best anthony bourdain impression ripping local heaters in some foreign country looking for new concept inspo in the form of fungus based psychedelics.

i thank so many you all so much for 6+ years of love. it’s been the most fulfilling stretch of my life, and i wouldn’t trade a second of it for the world. can’t wait to see you all one last time in the name of hummus & pita.

much love, tal, owner of mazal ’20 - ’26
