Proudly introducing the coffee culture of Los Angeles to one of the fastest-growing coffee scenes in the world, the space was designed to embody both the spirit of LA and the sensibilities of Seoul.
To reflect the raw yet refined character of Los Angeles, we incorporated organic materials such as natural stone, warm wood, and tinted glass reminiscent of water and light. The signature grid shelving from our Echo Park location was reinterpreted within the space to create a subtle sense of continuity and familiarity across the Stereoscope experience.
At the heart of the café is a standing bar positioned beside the espresso machine, inspired by the intimacy and energy of traditional Italian espresso culture. Here, guests are invited to slow down and engage — enjoying espresso, cappuccinos, and cortados served in ceramic for-here cups while speaking directly with our baristas about the week’s coffee selections, rotating offerings, and the nuances within each cup.

A zen-like tranquility in the customer space contrasts with the elevated industrial atmosphere of the bar. Through organic materials shaped over time by the community that moves through it, the space continues to age beautifully while reflecting the ethos of Stereoscope — an ontological dualism where complementary oppositions coexist in harmony.

From origin to cup.
An accumulation of choices, softened into something simple. The final cup, holding everything that led up to it.

El Tambo
Named after the first coffee we sourced and roasted as Stereoscope. Designed to produce a sweet, rounded profile of ripe dark cherry, milk chocolate and orange blossom honey. Although the same coffee is no longer used to produce this beautiful crowd pleaser, we use the name for this blend in honor of the nuances we loved from the original El Tambo (currently a blend of Brazil and Guatemala). Enjoy it straight or as milk based beverage.

The stone bar does most of the talking, stunning on its own, even better in action while drinks are crafted. Seating nearby keeps things easy with acrylic table legs that barely interrupt the space. Overhead, a hand-blown chandelier by Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus for Lasvit draws from iconic concert halls in Milan, Paris, Moscow, New York, and Prague, giving a soft, warm feel to 2nd Street.

Now offering matcha tins in all shops, featuring Kōka Uji and Hokatsu.
Both matchas come from the same farm in Uji. Both hand picked, ichibancha, stone milled, and the same blend of Samidori and Ujihikari.
The farm uses canopy shading with tana and slow‑release fertilizer from fish meal (tuna & bonito) and rice bran (builds the umami from the soil).
The biggest difference is elevation and shade time. Uji is grown on higher hillside‑basin fields, so mornings are cooler and the river fog is heavier, which gives the leaves a natural pre‑shade before the canopy shading process. Uji gets a 28‑day shade total.
Kyō grows slightly lower in the basin, with lighter fog and about 21 days of shade.
