The Price of Leadership.
The higher the level of leadership, the greater the sacrifice. No matter what kind of leadership it is, the higher you go, the more it will cost you. You will have to give up. You will have to let go, if you truly want to rise.
When I had my restaurant in Los Angeles, California, someone came up to me and said: βI want to do what you do.β
Without thinking, I replied: βWould you be willing to do what I did to get here?β
There was no way he could know the summers, the falls and the winters I spent sleeping in my car, looking for safe parking spots to sleep, showering at the gyms, knocking on doors and building businesses with no money.
Being alone at Christmas. Working every single day, no matter if it was a holiday or my birthday, whether I felt good or bad, and wearing the same clothes.
